James Young, guitarist for Texas-based country act Eli Young Band, is using Muse's "The 2nd Law" as his new "workout record."

When I asked Eli Young Band guitarist James Young what he was listening to during a recent interview, I figured he'd talk about the Band Perry or Florida Georgia Line or some other hot country act.

Instead, he talked about Muse's latest album "The 2nd Law."

Why he likes it: It’s my new workout record. I love how hard it is but also how soft at times. They use choir and a horn section. (Single) “Panic Station” taps into classic Queen with a bit of Peter Gabriel but more of an edge. It’s very hopeful, but its music that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Hee haw.

http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/entertainment/music/news/muse-we-will-play-uk-gig-for-20th-29316107.html

Speaking at the World War Z premiere, which includes music from their new album and was followed by a gig in St James Park, Muse said they hoped to mark the milestone with something special.

Singer Matt Bellamy said: "We're not sure, we've been thinking about it. I'm sure we're going to play in the UK somehow, somewhere.

"It might be some little gig or a festival or something, but we're going to try and come up with an idea for that, yeah."

Drummer Dominic Howard added: "We definitely want to do something special."

Manson Guitar Works are giving Muse fans a chance to bid for a unique guitar signed by all three members of the band.

The Red Glitter Matthew Bellamy MB-1, one of the company's rarest production guitars, is being auctioned off from today in aid of the Progressive Supra Nuclear Palsy Association and Marie Curie.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to own what is already an extremely limited guitar but with the very rare and added exclusivity of the band’s signatures present as well," says Manson director Adrian Ashton. "I’m very grateful for the band signing the guitar and to Matthew for letting one of these great guitars being made available for my two chosen charities.”

The winner of the auction will win the guitar complete with hard case and a signed certificate of authenticity. The last time a Muse-signed Manson was auctioned for charity, it raised £33,000, so the bar has been set particularly high.

The auction is open from now until the end of July. For more information or to make a private bid, contact Manson Guitar Works at sales@mansonguitarworks.com.

Such a beautiful guitar!

A video of Dom speaking to Antena 3 in Barcelona. Unfortunately they don't show much of the actual interview. The girl is talking about the shows, the production, the album and the following tour dates. And there's proshot footage of the show. Nothing new.

You can watch it here (it's short): http://www.antena3.com/videos-online/noticias/cultura/muse-hace-sonar-rock-barcelona_2013060800055.html

EDIT. and some proshot footage of last night's show here too: http://www.20minutos.es/noticia/1837917/0/muse/concierto/barcelona/

That's kind of surprising. The only other US show they've been on is Saturday Night Live. About time they booked others.

edit: Oh, it's probably to do with World War Z.

Exactly. Jimmy Kimmel flew to London to host the gig at Horse Guards Parade on 2 June for the World War Z premiere in London. It appears Kimmel's Thursday night show will show Muse performing at least one of the songs played at the premiere and featured in the movie which opens on 21 June. I think Brad Pitt is still promoting the movie in Europe so Muse will be doing some US promotion instead. The movie is expected to do well overseas just like The Tourist which also featured Muse songs in the trailer (MotP) and the closing credits (Starlight). In the US, World War Z will likely open in second or third place at the box office behind Monsters University and Man of Steel.
