  6. The Last Shadow Puppets rocker and The Muse frontman have joined forces for a rendition of tracks recorded by The Fab Four. http://www.radiox.co.uk/artists/muse/miles-kane-matt-bellamy-supergroup-beatles/ Footage has emerged of Matt Bellamy and Miles Kane performing together. Videos uploaded by their talent manager David Adcock sees the rockers dressed smartly to sing two tracks from The Beatles 1963 album, Please Please Me, at a 40th Birthday bash. Miles Kane - who looked more like his Last Shadow Puppets bandmate Alex Turner with his long hair - sang the Beatles' version of Twist And Shout, while the Muse frontman accompanied him on guitar. The pair also performed I Saw Her Standing There, whipping the crowd into a frenzy at what looked like a '60s-themed bash. Meanwhile, while Miles Kane has parties with Matt Bellamy, it seems his TLSP bandmate Alex Turner could be back to work recording Arctic Monkeys' sixth studio album. According to motorcycle website For The Ride, bassist Nick O'Malley visited the track "before recording began on the eagerly anticipated sixth album". The outlet added that the Brianstorm bassist confirmed the album would be out next year because, saying: "is it isn't we've got problems".

  9. http://www.gigwise.com/news/107579/muse-tour-setlist-to-be-decided-by-fans-says-matt-bellamy-&-petition The time has come for you to have your says, Muse fans - as frontman Matt Bellamy suggests that the next tour setlist could be decided by you 'by demand' and a petition has been launched. This comes after Muse played an epic opening headline set on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury last month - before some days later, headlining Montreux Jazz Festival with a setlist that included deep cuts, fan favourites, rarities and now seldom played tracks such as 'Agitated', 'Hyper Music', 'Fury', 'The Groove', 'Butterflies & Hurricanes', 'Futurism' and 'Micro Cuts'. However, one fan Tweeted Bellamy to say that they'd been disappointed with recent setlists in comparison, and how they didn't play on enough of the band's back catalogue. Now, just as they did on the blisteringly intimate Psycho Tour last year, Bellamy has responded to fans to suggest that the band are open to playing club shows where the setlist is decided 'by request': Now in true fanatical Muser style, the very same fans behind the petition for the band to play a 20th anniversary tour, have launched a new one calling for them to play a 'by request club tour'. "On July 2nd 2016, Muse performed at Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland that got a lot of chatter from the fans who were not in attendance," reads the petition. "Why? Because they played a lot of older, rarer songs that fans have been hoping to hear throughout the Drones World Tour. "Matt Bellamy responded to several Tweets following the gig and has talked about the possibility of a "rarities tour" or "by request type thing" as he put it. "This has received a lot of positive feedback from the fan community and is something everyone would love to be a part of. "Suggestions have been made to allow those only in attendance have the ability to select from a list of songs they would like to be played, or have access to a poll created by the band before the gig. "Something like this wouldn't be a easy task for the band to administer but it is certainly achievable (and being a web developer I am happy to put my hand up to help with this!) "In 2015 Muse did a similar tour in the UK where they performed rarities and this had a great response from the fans. The locations were intimate and gave a great boost for club venues across the UK." They added: "Muse are to stop touring end of August 2016 for a well deserved rest. A "By Request" tour would be great to see in 2017 and I would suggest expanding it from the UK to include Europe as well. There have been talks of Muse performing at some US festivals next year so that would open up the opportunity to do some club shows in the US as well. It has also been well noticed that Australia has been missed during the Drones World Tour, so the possibility of having some shows down under would go a long way too!" - Read and sign the petition here
  10. For you Lighting & Video geeks among us. Oli Metcalfe Production Designer & Lighting Director “When it was evaluated for the 2nd Law Tour in 2012, it was deemed untenable, but the band and management really wanted to see this become an ’in the round’ show this year. There was a very long list of challenges, most of which related to the drone deployment and standing area for their launch. The other main constraint was the show’s infrastructure, and how this would be placed over the stage in close proximity to the stage equipment. I faced huge challenges with Brilliant Staging on providing enough surface area in the air for the flight crew to work from and launch their flying machines from...Article continues.

  13. Muse Run Afoul of the Italian Press http://www.spinnermusic.co.uk/2009/10/15/muse-run-afoul-of-the-italian-press/ It's well known that the Italian press loves scandal almost as much as the rest of the country loves soccer. Throw in a dash of 'X-Factor' mockery and, as Muse found out during a recent promotional appearance in the boot-shaped country, you've got the recipe for a great tabloid story. "We were booked on this cheesy Italian TV show where they asked us to mime. We tried to think of a way to make it fun and interesting so we decided to swap instruments," drummer Dominic Howard tells Spinner of the band's appearance on the soccer-themed 'Quelli che il Calico' program. "We just did it for a laugh really, just to have a bit of fun, but it actually turned out to be quite a thing." Indeed, the band's instrument swapping performance -- which saw frontman Matthew Bellamy move to drums and bassist Christopher Wolstenholme 'playing' the guitar and keyboards while a sunglass-sporting Howard, a dead ringer for Interpol's Paul Banks, mimed the vocals and bass -- caused quite a stir on the internet where various versions of the clip have been watched over 500,000 times. Italy's national media, however, were not quite as amused. While in the band's native England the act of swapping instruments during lip-synced performances became an accepted practice thanks to the nationally televised 'Top of the Pops' program, it seemed the joke was lost on 'Quelli che il Calico's host Simona Ventura. "Apparently it completely came across that we were taking the piss out of the presenter, who is some 'X Factor' judge that no one really likes," Howard fondly recalls. "The Italian press turned it into quite a story." Eventually cooler heads prevailed and the band -- who recorded most of their recent album 'The Resistance' at Bellamy's holiday home in Italy's Lake Cuomo (where George Clooney also famously resides) -- can safely return to Lo Stivale, though they probably shouldn't hold their breaths for an Italian 'X-Factor' invite.
