Do runs of shows at certain venues. If they do, I really do hope they take some time to not only think about which venues to use (nice, grand places with good acoustics would be nice) but also about covering each country sufficiently (i.e. not skipping the South West of England/Wales, etc).

 

But don't you think they might want to take a break and write for a while? They have been going non stop for yeears! But yes, it would be amazing if they began doing even more shows!

 

I'm finding the mixed opinions on this forum interesting.. Imo, I think they should go ahead and do it this time. Overall it will either be good or bad, then they will know what they should stick with doing! =)

I'm liking the idea's of smaller venues though, I don't want to jump to conclusions but b-sides might appear *dies* I doubt it though!

In relation to doing more shows, I think that's asking a bit much tbh. They already tour extensively.

They need to roll with this mentality if they tour South America next year. I wouldn't have been as excited if they were to play at mostly arenas/stadiums. But when they hit up a lot of smaller venues in South America two years ago like a 3,000-capacity theater in Buenos Aires, they played the likes of Sunburn, Dead Star, Space Dementia, Bliss, Citizen Erased, Fury, City of Delusion and Apocalypse Please.

That worked out amazingly well. I got to see them 4 times within a week because of that sale . The problem with Muse's fanclub is that it's free and anyone could join right before the tickets are on sale

Exactly. Guiding Light was designed to be played in a stadium.

 

I can't imagine that Matt went through his break-up without writing any angry personal songs. So there might be hope for more raw songs like Showbiz and Dead Star.

 

I agree with this. Guiding Light was written with stadiums in mind. They didn't play it at the Casino de Paris gig in May.

Smaller venues could see the return of older album tracks and B-sides that the band don't think are suitable for their current huge venues.

Heh, Dom said the same thing the last time they played Wembley. It does sound slightly more plausible now that they've had a stadium tour, and I think Matt realises that making a more OTT album than The Resistance would be a mistake. We'll just have to wait and see.

Yup. That's the issue with their whole ticket sale thing. But there are other bands that have way worse tkcketing issues than Muse. At least Muse tries. But they could do so much better!

Muse have absolutely nothing to do with ticket sales though. The management/record label people generally are the ones who will take care of that for them.

I understand that. I meant Muse as a collective entity. Management included. Another reason why they need to go indie.

This sounds good but I doubt it's really likely. I wouldn't be surprised if they went more personal because it would just make sense -as people are saying there is only so big you can go before you start to question it all. But I doubt that many small venue gigs would go ahead.

I think smaller more personal venue would be getting away from the grandiose queen like style of The Resistance cd with all of its Big Brother politics undertones and returning to the introspective unique, yet universally felt writing he was doing with songs on Showbiz, OoS, and BHR. I think this is just what some fans have been asking for, isn't it? I love this idea, even though I also loved what they created with Resistance. I think many songs have been based on a political/literary ideas, but very few albums as a whole have focused on this one theme type of song writing. I can't wait to hear what he's been feeling inside:D

Actually that's the job of promoters, the record label is there to make records.

I think scaling things down after The Resistance is a smart idea, I'm just no sure how good Muse will be at "personal" or "intimate" and I hope that their music doesn't become too straight and ordinary.

..if they came back to the commodore in vancouver (where they played back in '04), i would die happy. unfortunately i missed this show the first time round ..and their earlier show that year at richards on richards. both venues have about a 1000/1200 person capacity!!

 

i highly doubt this will ever happen again, but one can hope.

That's not a producer in the music, the middleman between artist & label is management. A producer produces records, bands don't necessarily know anything about recording or people, studios etc.
