CatchHellBlues
Warmed up to this some more today. I'd currently rate at 5/10 (it was 0/10) My fault I guess for expecting them to just release Execution Commentary as their next single
Archer29
Someone today explained it as "The cheesy title sequence/theme song to the album and then it actually starts with Drill Sergeant + Psycho." One way to look at it I suppose

OriAr
I will go on a dare say that Aftermath is gonna be even cheesier than this.
CatchHellBlues
I will go on a dare say that Aftermath is gonna be even cheesier than this. If they deliver in between Dead Inside and Aftermath I don't care if it's pure Dairylea
Archer29
I think if this wasn't a concept then Dead Inside would wouldn't be the album opener, but due to the concept it has had to go first. I think Dead Inside and Aftermath will be the lighter songs book-ending the heavier songs in between. Then we are left with (hopefully) two songs of utter chaos! HomesickSubterranean
I took a shot at editing the track. I really liked the arrangement that was posted yesterday but I added some subtle percussion (I tried to be tasteful in adding something to the track) in addition to some rearrangements. I think it spiced up the first half a bit...let me know what you guys think: https://www.mediafire.com/?41y6bnzdd926ynl Sorry for not having it streaming, Soundcloud immediately blocked it. serpentsatellite
I think we're really overdoing it on the "cheesy" Muse complaints if people think this song qualifies as such...
Tesseract
The "dead inside!" part is probably the cheesiest thing ever in a Muse song.
FabriPav
The "dead inside!" part is probably the cheesiest thing ever in a Muse song. Yeah, or something close to that.
HomesickSubterranean
The "dead inside!" part is probably the cheesiest thing ever in a Muse song. See I thought that at first. But then I remembered "I'm gonna win" and "eura-SIA." Then everything was ok. It's up there as their worst but at least it has company.

serpentsatellite
The beginning and end "dead inside" bits are a bit weird, and I don't think the song would suffer without them, but they hardly make the rest of the song cheesy, imo.
Clunge
Yup, still absolutely totally and utterly love this song. I think I prefer it to Psycho and Reapers, and I really like both of them.
Niall
I still love this song. But I also love Big Freeze and Undisclosed Desires. 🙌 I particularly love the bits others seem to hate about it. The Depeche Mode, the "DEAD INSIDE!", the million drones. It's all good!
jangdiin
FUCK I realy did not like this song on the first 4 listens, now I fucking adore it? What's happening, same thing happened with Psycho. Damn Muse, I honestly think Dead Inside features the best vocal delivery Matt has ever done imo.

mjartrod
I honestly think Dead Inside features the best vocal delivery Matt has ever done imo. I was telling this to someone today. It's a masterclass and on top of that, you feel genuine emotion in the way he sings.

I hope this is the only song with this style on the album though - purely cos were due a nice pure rock album from the guys now But I've said it before, I think it works amazingly as the album opener, lure them in with this relaxed dancey beat then hit them with a massive wall of rock! ;D
