FabriPav
Do you really remember every single word sippe ever said?))) I remember every word everyone says. What does The Resistance have to do with BHAR being good lyrically? Knights of Cydonia is the hidden track of The Resistance, you twit.

awol5ht
Just little bits and pieces I'm rather fond of; SING FOR ABSOLUTION: Sing for absolution I will be singing And falling from your grace There's nowhere left to hide In no one to confide The truth burns deep inside And will never die HOODOO: I've had recurring nightmares that I was loved for who I am And missed the opportunity to be a better man STOCKHOLM SYNDROME: And we'll fly And we'll fall And we'll burn EXPLORERS: Running around in circles feeling caged By endless rules Can you free me, free me from this world NATURE 1 Like a broken dam you're empty And all that's left are the sticks and stones That were built by other people And it really shows
SpiralStatic1
What does The Resistance have to do with BHAR being good lyrically? Fuck. Again. Yes, I know KoC is BhaR, but I always mention it like the Resistance song. Almost unconsciously.Sorry.
sumosasuke
My vote goes to Hoodoo, the lyrics are hauntingly beautiful. I have had recurring nightmares That I was loved for who I am And missed the opportunity To be a better man.

Buckerss
Some of the lyrics I really like off the top of my head. Rain Come with me to nowhere And I'll show you nothing special I'm still pleased to see you Alive I know you'll forget me But I don't care 'cause I'm always with you You don't care for anyone Ooh Hoodoo Pretty much all of it. Honestly I have a deep and haunting connection to the song that has built up over the past four years. In your world Too broken to belong Too weak to sing along I'll comfort you my friend Helping you to blow it all away! Coma For years feeling dead You can fall right out of bed
Bohemian-Cygnus-Running-Out
Definitely the last few lines of Hoodoo: "I've had recurring nightmares That I was loved for who I am And missed the opportunity To be a better man" MotP: "Why can't we see That when we bleed we bleed the same?" CE: Well, really the whole thing. It took me quite a while to realize this track's awesomeness, but the vocals especially never cease to amaze me and the lyrics just work so well. Exogenesis 3: "Let's start over again Why can't we start it over again... it's our last chance to forgive ourselves" Not necessarily amazing, but paired with the video it nearly brought me to tears the first time I saw it. Bliss: "Everything about you resonates happiness Now I won't settle for less" Beautiful, though I still somewhat miss when I though "resonates" was actually "is innate" Dead Inside: Like the whole thing minus maybe the "greatest guy" line. So emotional, such great delivery, loving this more every time. Madness: "I need your love" As with Bliss, I miss when I thought "your" was actually "to," but still good. USoE: "And these wars, they can't be won. Does anyone know or care how they began?" Invincible: Like CE, the whole thing is great. Got to be like the most uplifting lyrics I know. Screenager/RbS: "Hide from your family, they won't know you now"/"Wash the blood off your hands, this time she won't understand" "No one knows who's in control" Sunburn: "And I'll hide from the world, behind a broken frame And I'll burn forever, I can't face the shame" TSP: "Sell, and I'll sell your memories, for fifteen pounds per year. But you can keep the bad days." Showbiz: "And they make me Make me dream your dreams And they make me Make me scream your screams" FAWY: "I can't remember when it was good Moments of happiness elude Maybe I just misunderstood" But also the whole thing. Endlessly: "Hopelessly I'll love you endlessly Hopelessly I'll give you everything But I won't give you up I won't let you down And I won't leave you falling If the moment ever comes/But the moment never comes" And that's probably enough for one post. Bohemian-Cygnus-Running-Out
Okay, certainly Hoodoo is this forum's favorite Muse song from a lyrical standpoint by now. I think it would be bigger news if someone had decided they didn't like the last four lines at this point.

Bohemian-Cygnus-Running-Out
"The truth is when I'm killing in order to survive, I've never felt more alive." I say ST has some of Matt's best lyrics, hands down. At least some of the best delivery of his usual fare to make it totally enticing.
Bohemian-Cygnus-Running-Out
"You are the coder and avatar, a star." That might be corny as heck, but it works really well for me.

The entirety of Algorithm "Burn like a slave Churn like a cog We are caged in simulations Algorithms evolve Push us aside and render us obsolete This means war With your creator" God damn. I find those lines so literal though (apart from the first two), despite the surreal subject. It's distracting to me.

I’m amazed it’s taken Matt 20 years to write those lyrics. They read like any classic early Muse song right off the bat, especially “this means war with your creator”
That Little Animal
Overall I think ST lyrics are a huge leap (back) in the right direction. In part because I'm not distracted by them (Dark Side, Pressure, Something Human, Break it to Me) and in part because they're just really good (Blockades, The Void, parts of Algorithm). I'm on the fence about TC, mainly because of the "final solution" line, which is a bit much. Propaganda is ok too, I suppose, though "flooooooozy" is my least favorite part of the song. OoS deals with all kinds of SciFi themes without ever getting to the point.
