Tough choice between BITM and Algorithm for me, with TDS also up there.

Wow, it sounds fantastic.

T2L had Survival, Madness, Animals, Big Freeze (it's fun) and Isolated System at least. Drones had Dead Inside and The Handler. And many of their most boring songs. It's a clear Drones for me.

That's a good way of looking at it actually.

As much as I enjoy The Void, it frustrates me a little bit. It builds up nicely in the "It takes a leap of faith..." part, and then abruptly changes back to the quiet intro style. I feel like there could have been a better transition there. The song ends up feeling a bit rushed. Could have had maybe 30 more seconds to flesh that part out more, and it would be a top tier Muse song.

I think this is pretty much me at this point. I especially love Matt's voice on OOS . And by extension on Showbiz.

I think I'm about the same, though I have an on-off relationship with BHAR.

I find Reapers quite unlistenable, sadly. The verses are so boring. The production throughout is weird. The solo is annoying until the last bit. The outro is underwhelming. The Handler is great but the bridge could have more going on.

Fair enough. I'm sure they must know what it is. For the last few days I've just realised that a few of my friends don't know a few historical facts that I took for granted as common knowledge, so I was in that frame of mind when I suggested they might not know it. But yeah I can see how it makes sense in that context. But the brace for it bit does stink, and it's still hard to listen to.

Yeah. It's either really tasteless or they've never heard the phrase in the context of the Holocaust; I'm guessing the latter.

I can't get over the riff of BITM. It's mixed so well with the bass to make a really satisfying sound. I also can't get over the fact that no-one stopped Matt from recording that final solution line in TC. And the way he emphasizes those words in the live version- the cringe is so strong.

BITM would have been a great lead single imo

I won't go as far as to say this, but I do actually enjoy it now. TC and SH are far better than I remember when I listen to them in the album context. I would drop DD though to have a tighter album. It's a bit long as it is. Though I would keep the acoustic version on the super deluxe edition. Break it to me is one of their grooviest songs ever. I think this is their best-produced album since OOS or Abso for me. The synths especially sound the best they ever had, on Algorithm, Blockades, The Void in particular. And the guitar and bass sound quite huge compared to the last 3 albums. If I were to do a ranking as I feel atm, it would be OOS Absolution TR Showbiz BHAR ST T2L Drones For a muse album I'd give it an 8/10, which is purely based on how much I enjoy listening to it, rather than some objective measure.

Best muse song since TR, other than IS.
