sumosasuke Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 i was shocked on my first listen, mostly because it was nothing like Muse. i was W.T.F.ing through the entire song on first play. it has grown on me though and i like it now, it just sounds different.
HaikuMarko Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 ^ but that in itself is Muse... I did not expect any BH&R sounds
Gemsy Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Really like this, reminds me of Dephece Mode, though if I was going to criticise it I would say Matts vocals are a bit whiny in places. I also got the DM thing, but it's just the LYRICS. :'( Argh mate.
madzip Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Yeah I think I could have wrote those lyrics and the rhyming.. but thats the same for most Muse lyrics.... BUT, I don't understand why this song is getting slated so much. One of the reviewers said that the crown were so silent after it was played that is was like muse tumbleweed.... WTF, I was there, I instantly loved this track... it is so sexy and dark and emotional.... I really 'feel' this song. Edit: Also it is not the first time that Muse and DM have been mentioned. The quiet bit in CE remind me a lot of DM's Somebody..... only a short section but the comparision shouts out.

It seems like on these boards that the majority of people want to marry this song. I feel like I'm in the minority because I'm not a nutter for it. I imagine I'll grow to love it, but I don't want to over-listen at this point.
naget4music Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 love love love love it. It still doesnt beat resistance though
Hamsterminator Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 I think it's awesome Its about time a band as good muse did a mainstream song or two, something to quell the people terrified of their heavier tracks (my mates girlfriend wont have muse played anywhere near her, but she likes this one!).
mrs_bellamy_ Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 I didn't like it when I heard the 30 sec preview, but after hearing the whole song, I love it! It's a bit different, but still good!
amused232 Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 I honestly think this song is savage! Probably one of my favourites so far, definitely of the 4 that I've heard the full songs of so far! Uprising a pretty close second and much more typically Musey but yeah I'm liking UD - it's like the Supermassive Blackhole of this album! <3
nohopeinfear Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 UD - it's like the Supermassive Blackhole of this album! <3
Peroxide Pixie Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 it's like the Supermassive Blackhole of this album! <3 I don't think so, I think it's more like Map Of The Problematique and I would say Uprising is the Supermassive Blackhole of this album.
Mozza Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 I like this song for now. Whether the novelty will wear off is another issue.
Rgmonster Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 This song has gripped me since I heard it live at The Den on friday, it surprised me, but ultimately it has been stuck in my head ever since, even after I heard the radio play on Zane Lowe too. Great new one, something special for the forthcoming album.
jellycandy Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 I absolutely love it. I know, it's not heavy, no distorted guitar, but... I still like it. And lyrics are quite good. And I agree - it's like Map of the Problematique. Though this album is going to be sooo different from BH&R. And I didn't expect that. With Muse it is like: expect the unexpected.
CarrieB Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 I love the ooooooooerrrrr bit in the middle - practically gives me a hot flush!
the aurora Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 I've went to sleep and have woken up with UD in my head for two days in a row.
HaiHopes Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 I just think its perfect. Love every second. Then again....the way he says violence is a little squished and odd.
NCWP Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 It is better than I thought. I would only give it a 6 or 7 out of 10, though. But hey, if this is the weakest track on the album we really have something to look forward to!
*OoS* Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 This is going to be a horrible, gushing fanboyish post, but this is in my opinion, the best song Muse have done in years. Something incredibly dark, yet sexy about it and I never imagined I'd be describing a Muse track as 'sexy'. Finally Muse have made a truly great 'pop' track. SBH? Easily?
CarrieB Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 I just think its perfect. Love every second. Then again....the way he says violence is a little squished and odd. There's still a dispute in my mind whether it's "violence" or "values" but it doesn't sound completely like either. Might be another word entirely. Another thing, I thought I heard "teach" instead of "tease".
Fish Custard Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 There's still a despute in my mind whether it's "violence" or "values" but it doesn't sound completely like either. Might be another word entirely. Muse site says violence
Lo Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 wasn't a fan at 1st but after seeing it live 3 times it is fast becoming one of my favourites strangly. plus you can pull some epic corny dance moves to it
