Jobby
I’m wondering if there are just ‘sweet spots’ for his voice with regards to their touring schedule nowadays. Could be wrong but since 2015, I feel like we’ve been seeing a pattern of: bit sketchy/out of breath at the start of a leg as he ‘warms up’, then pretty solid and occasionally impressive for a while, then starts to tail off again and sound a bit hoarse as the number of gigs catch up to him. kueller
Don't know where else to put this and it's a real petty detail but I was really happy to finally see a Stockholm performance where he did the falsetto like on HAARP on the second verse. Hat
And it was a good one as well. He didn't do it back when I last saw them...which was in 2009. Damn.
kueller
I mean I waited 6 years just to see the damn song again so it was a welcome addition.
Jobby
I always wanted to see the long G4 "riiiiiiiiiight" from the HAARP version of Map but, judging by how he handled those parts last year, I think my chances are dead </3 also 6 years jesus
kueller
Granted those 6 years only had 3 concerts in between and 2 of those were in the same week.
Zepp
I'm seeing them in Yokohama and the other day I realised that the last time I saw them was almost 5 years ago. Which is good in a way because I'm super excited and will be happy to hear even the usual staples.
heyjackk
I mean I waited 6 years just to see the damn song again so it was a welcome addition. Just made me realise I waited almost 7 between Sydney 2010 and Reading 2017
Jobby
ok pretty good performance of Feeling Good but ngl I'm literally just posting to appreciate the hair 'cos that flat/sweaty red is legit hot af That, and 1:57 - 2:02 is pretty fucking cool. also available in PIB Edit: in fact, this whole gig's a gem if you've not heard the bootleg of it. OOS reckless abandon at it's finest and the riffs are meaty as fuck.

Clunge
I'm not a huge fan of the song, but I always think this is a really great version of Defector. In fact, is it still the only one ever? Or did it get played a couple of times on the Drones tour? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hiE3HbmF1Wk

Jobby
Started popping up a bunch right at the end of the arena tour iirc. Fucked me off a bit at the time, after people had been asking about it for the entire tour and they finally decide to bring it into rotation right at the death and just a few weeks after my 5 gigs

I was at one of those times and... it's a bit childish, but I almost feel proud at the idea that I saw them performing a "rare" song.
Clunge
Still one of my favourite versions of Hysteria. Matt's guitar is really high in the mix and I love the stabby outro guitar. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dskBZqxwuGE
Jobby
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMZ4mvb6tlY Not necessarily the best overall (even if I actually really like some of the different lyrics and Matt's goofy send-off at the end) but that B4 climax Kinda wish it made it to the record but I'm guessing he swiftly realised he wouldn't be able to pull it off consistently live
CitizenAroused
The "Life is Beautiful" festival gig is their best this year from what I've seen. Matt seems to have a good voice day and he's very energetic and into it. Also, SS and Take a Bow.

forevermusic
Life is Beautiful wasn't bad tbf, and anything with Butterflies & Hurricanes in pro-shot deserves brownie points. But of the televised gigs, Reading looked like the best one.
Jobby
Oh yeah, no, it wasn’t bad by this year’s standards. ....but I mean, do I need to name the gig? (not to mention the 3 that followed)
forevermusic
Hence the phrase "the televised ones"... or maybe live-streamed if we're doing a more accurate term in the 2010's. Though I'm tempted to dock points from SBE as the best one purely because I'm still pouting that I missed out.
Jobby
SBE was streamed (though they didn’t specify that tbf). Not well, but it was streamed

Tbf that was good work from all for keeping a stable bandwith for that long.
