frozenbanana
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YBI22dvHSM Shout for best modern PIB? Literally everything's on point imo, shows it can still be one of their most fun live songs with even just a smidge of energy behind it. Though I still usually have a good time with it anyway tbf. (also at what point does TR stop being 'modern Muse' - next album?) Yup. It's between that one and ACL 2013 for me (26:40): [YT] [/YT]

Mr.Mime
I always felt this is one of the best performances of Knights of Cydonia: [YT]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tl2Abi-fxsw[/YT] So much energy and Dom goes absolutely berserk at the end! Any other contenders? Edited February 20, 2017 by Mr.Mime
Jobby
Just went searching through a bunch of old Knights performances and god damn does it bug me too much that Matt's literally never sang the 'gonna' bit properly.

Hat
Speaking of BH&R era, this whole session was great: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGHsJS8P4kI
Clunge
I quite like listening back to all the early versions of SMBH and see just how much it changed and developed from mid-2006 to stadiums in '07. And it's obvs changed a fair bit live since then too.
Clunge
The mix on this is every bit as horrific as I remember, but damn Matt's vocal is brilliant. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qxT2grws5o
Hat
Never got the hype for that performance. I'd say it's worse than most 1999-2002 performances. The vocals here are weaker, and the mix+guitar tone is bad as well. Just seems people are impressed he could still do it.
Jobby
It's amazing for the "they make maaaaaaaaaaay"s alone. One thing that always brings down a lot of the '99-'02 performances down for me is seeing him struggle to hit/sustain those high chest notes in the chorus. There's a few where he doesn't and it sounds great obvs but, in that Reading one, he just soars
Hat
Not sure what struggle you're talking about. I mean the descend into pure screaming was intentional most of the time. Like, this is obviously done on purpose, and for me it's part of what makes the performances so good. This is one of the best performances imo. 2:05 is amazing, and so is the ending note. nkdmtro93
Ah it's a great version, and I love the distortion in the voice. But I think I like this one more https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNkDTrDT4A8 He does something in the last chorus with the higher strings and it sounds awesome. I can't decide though, if I like better the changed riff he does in the 2nd vs the little solo in Earl's Court just before the last chorus
Jobby
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8teEVyNxtA4 For some reason I don't think I've ever listened to this, wtf. Toanage that mammoth should be illegal. That 'abandon' @ 4:10 as well </
Clunge
This was vvv early too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLbsCJFxfB0 EDIT: It's the same version . Edited March 19, 2017 by Clunge

Jobby
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxtzR1ueKbg Not heard this version before either, crowd audio but you can hear some wild shit in there. Love performances where Matt does that rise for the 'all to no avail' part and extends the 'abandon's and 'forget's in the chorus. Also WHAT IS THAT RIFF @ 6:40??? I know it and feel like it's super obvious but I can't place it for some reason D:

forevermusic
Yeah sounds like the right rhythm and play, but detuned to Drop D from YYZ's standard tuning.
