Muse Songs That Are Worse Than "Guiding Light"

The greatest thread in the history of the Muse forum is upon is.

Since it has been implicitly decided that Guiding Light is this standard of poor quality that all other poor quality can be based around it is now time to make an objective, definitive, and unanimously agreed upon list of the songs Muse have made that were not able to even surpass the infamous 4 minute ballad tucked away in the center of The Resistance.

- Fillip

- Sober

- Overdue

- IBTY

- Neutron Star Collision

- Explorers

- Defector (Yeah I said it)

- Aftermath

- The Globalist

- Drones

Idk if we're counting things like this but also:

- A few of the early B-Sides from like late 90s to early 00s.

- Who Knows Who

- Prague

To be honest I kinda like Guiding Light, maybe in a slightly ironic sense but it certainly isn't their worst song. But hey if you want my six least favourite Muse songs that I can think of at the top of my head here you go:

Who Knows Who

Dig Down

Thought Contagion

Something Human

Prague

and Map of Your Head

Not counting obscure b-sides and stuff like Who Knows Who:

- Big Freeze (debatable, they're on the same level)

- Save Me

- Liquid State

- Aftermath

- Get Up and Fight

Special mention to the last third of Aftermath for being the worst Muse moment ever.

We have a diplomatic situation there

:p

Honestly though, HTAILY has never connected with me like it has with most Muse fans. It feels incomplete to me, whereas Guiding Light always puts a smile on my face in all of its cheesy glory.

Now Spiral Static? That's a masterwork. Makes a killer closer after four enjoyable, but sub-par tracks on the bonus track version of Showbiz.

Thinking....

yeah you're right, I left some out.

Escape

Overdue

Sober

Hate This And I'll Love You

I never liked the last four songs on Showbiz that much either.

But they were young and a bit rushed to finish the album.

Guiding Light was made by a fully developed band that had already made three near-perfect albums already. There was simply no excuse for that song to exist.

Of course the same goes for Aftermath and Dig Down.

I don't mind that Prague exists. It's the absolute worst, but you have to really look for it to even come across it, so who cares.

I'm literally stunned that people don’t like HTAILY, I can't wrap my head around it and I've listened to it several times now, it's very good

Those 4 songs were all written well before the album though, like ‘96/97.

Yes, that’s my point. If they wouldn’t have been in a hurry, they could have waited a bit and replaced them with something better. Like Spiral Static. Or Plug in Baby, even, though I’m sure that would have been inferior to the version that ended up on OoS.
