If Origin of Symmetry were never made, would you still be a muse fan?

Yes because OoS wasn't the album that got me into them in the first place, so even though it's my favourite album now I still began liking Muse without it.

I like all of the other albums a lot, OoS just stands out more for me.

 

Oh and if it was any other album, then yes I would still be a fan.

The singles from OoS drew me into Muse but I was already aware of them through Sunburn and MM.

 

Plus, I love Absolution as much as OoS so I daresay they would have got to me somehow.

I think yes because when I discovered Muse my love for OoS wasn't as big as now. It's not Origin what made me fell in love with Muse.

On the other hand I would be far less amazed by them if OoS were never made.

Unless you were around in 2001/02 (near the album release), I don't really know how you wouldn't be a fan. You're basically asking everyone if they like anything other than Origin!

 

Personally, I'm a Black Holes era baby, and I still like that album the most.

Bit of a weird question, but yes. I liked Muse since Unintended, and New Born and Plug in Baby got be interested casually, but it wasn't until Absolution that I became a massive obsessed Muse fan.

Got into Muse by listening New Born, so i wouldn't be a fan. Not that I'm really a Muse fan anymore.

It would be a bit extreme to be a fan of the band based on one album - you'd be more a fan of those particular songs than the band itself. I wouldn't have as much love for Muse if there was not OoS, as I think it's their best work by far, but they've made plenty of other brilliant songs, and their live performances as a whole are reason enough to be a fan.

I had liked Muse from the first listen which was Muscle Museum when they debuted, but tbh, I didn't like OoS first, especially PiB which was the first song from the album I listened to on a radio. I got more interested in them thanks to Absolution and Black Holes and Revelations, so the answer would be yes.

Well, Origin is the album that got me hooked on Muse, so I'm not exactly sure if I would have become a fan if I had heard songs from the other albums instead. I'd guess yes, though.

OoS was the album that got me into them, so I dunno. Perhaps the other albums would still have been enough to induce my hardcore fanboy phase, but I doubt it. I certainly wouldn't count myself as a fan now if it weren't for OoS.

I first heard of Muse through OOS/Hullabaloo and it's the reason I became obsessed with them as a teenager.

 

Without it I'd still most likely have be a fan, and would probably have first heard of them through Absolution instead (which I still really like). But I'd have never been as big a fan as I was, and they certainly wouldn't have had as large an impact on my teenager self. In fact, despite liking the other albums and loving some individual tracks, OOS is still the only album which really has a large impact on me now!

If Origin had never been made Muse would be a different band, but if its a case of it just being straight Showbiz to Hullaballoo/Absolution jump then I would still be on the good Muse ship, even if it would be a much different Muse without Plug in Baby, Bliss, Citizen Erased, etc.

I'm not sure that you can have Hullabaloo without OOS, seeing as Hullabaloo are b-sides from the OOS recording sessions!

Probably. I started listening Muse through The Resistance, then bought Origin Of Symmetry. If it hadn't been around I would probably have bought Showbiz.
