MartianSpaghettiRider
Wait... "Contagion"... That IG post saying "Cured" with the "Shyphillis" box ticked... Oh, god, they couldn't have made a song about syphillis or sexual diseases, could they?
tuyet
"Fourth contagion"... I guess it's about HIV isn't it? my birthday is feb 9th so I hope they will release the new song by that time
forevermusic
Thought Contagion or Fourth Contagion? ... guess will see when it turns up. Don't care too much about the style, just as long as its any good.
MartianSpaghettiRider
Thought Contagion or Fourth Contagion? ... guess will see when it turns up. Don't care too much about the style, just as long as its any good. If it's the first one, I hope it won't be a sort of Uprising pt. II. The second one, instead, gives off almost Absolution-like vibes to me; it would make me think of something in the vein of Stockholm Syndrome (which I hope for). MartianSpaghettiRider
A redditer may have found the origin of the new title: https://www.amazon.com/Thought-Contagion-Aaron-Lynch/dp/0465084672?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C2873935078 Let's brace ourselves for Revolt 2.0, guys. frutiger75
sounds pretty shitty to me. gotta aim for setting the bar low, queuing up a subsequent surprise, y'know?
serpentsatellite
I see someone beat me to the book, but the song is likely to be about memes and fake news. So... more Drones era lyrics. Otherwise known as, a grade schooler's book report.
FabriPav
It'll 100% be terrible in every way.

MartianSpaghettiRider
He also has definitely confirmed it's "Thought Contagion", and that the Origin Of Muse project is down the rabbit hole to point it won't see the light of the day for another year. serpentsatellite
'Fury 2' I mean, it worked well for The Globalist It didn't exactly work well for Fury 1, either, not making the album and all... Also, this song "sequel" stuff is fucking old already. Are they truly out of ideas?
kueller
He could just be like... drawing a comparison? The fans call things sequels all the time.
MartianSpaghettiRider
Also, this song "sequel" stuff is fucking old already. Are they truly out of ideas? It's just they might have bought into some fans' mentality of comparing new material versus old material ("Argh, old stuff is still better, yada yada...") and they're replicating it in order to appease to them again. A dangerous line of thought, I think.
serpentsatellite
He could just be like... drawing a comparison? The fans call things sequels all the time. Except, even excluding the fact that Dig Down feels like it samples Madness, he's called two songs from Drones sequels? It's a recipe for disappointment, and makes me feel like they don't even try to be original anymore. (See also: Mercy and Starlight, the entirety of Psycho, etc)
kueller
I thought the Handler was one of their best work on the album.
serpentsatellite
I'm hot and cold on it, I guess. It's absolutely not a bad song, but I have a hard time knowing if I'd like it as much as I did if it wasn't for the nostalgia at the end. Otherwise, it's a pretty long build up, especially with how repetitious that solo is.
kueller
I could nitpick the song like any other but the general consensus and one I'd agree with myself is that it did a good job at doing their heavy style in an era that really lacks it. serpentsatellite
I feel less like I'm nitpicking, and more just saying that - while I'd agree it's a good song - I've felt, since I listened to it more and more, that it apes an older style, but doesn't manage to recapture the emotion and what made that style good in the first place. For that reason, I much prefer DI, and even Mercy, which make me feel something.
Jobby
I think it's just starting to feel like a bit of a cheap tactic to keep fans interested that hasn't lived up to the comparison once (The Handler's solid but it was never gonna be anywhere near Showbiz) so becomes a little eyeroll-y. And if it isn't intentional, then it's just kinda naive and maybe suggests a regressive approach to writing and creativity behind the scenes as well. Also worth noting that Matt says there's gonna be more stuff in 2018 than '17, in terms of singles/videos. So hopefully one in Feb, another over the summer, then maybe another around Autumn/Winter if the album still isn't out.
