Would anyone be able to recommend me a versatile, 30/40 watt valve amp? Preferably between £250/£400 quid. I just want an amp that will last me and has a fair amount of potential, as our band may be gigging quite soon, and my amp at the moment is so unreliable it's untrue.

It should be able to handle cleans, crunch and higher-gain quite well. A combo too so I can lug it to and fro to band practise. Cheers, help would be very appreciated :)

I was thinking of getting one of these

http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_bentonhbt1500tbk_egitarre.htm

due to the fact I'm broke and need a new guitar. I have some crappy strat from ebay, you know one of those sets with some crappy amp e.t.c.

I'd imagine it only looks nice and doesn't sound so nice, if not I may save for longer and get a Yamaha Pacifica 120, or even one of these

Id for sure go with the first one, it looks really nice. Especially for the price.

Though the second one does have a better quality wood, you will probably get moar from it tone wise. but you could easily upgrade the pickups in the first one for less than the price of the Peaver and get a better guitar.

I vote Harley with upgraded pickups and a proper setup.

So has anyone played one of these?

wait... has anyone heard of one let alone played it?

I think the company may get them made for them. Anyone else reckon the same as zooropa??

Steer clear of the first one! They play like shit! They're really made by a company called Shine which are a terrible brand and not one of them plays nicely! Peavey on the other hand are pretty fair for the amount of quality control and parts you get for the price.

Right I need a decent bass amp. Nothing to powerful as it's just for recording. I've been using a really terrible sounding 15 watt guitar amp (marshall mg15) :$ I know n00b. I'm looking to spend about 200 max on it. Any suggestions?

if its just for recording, id advise you not to buy an amp but buy a tech-21 sansamp bass driver DI. theyre the balls.

Cheers chris  I'll shop around for one.

the stompbox

or the rack unit

my bassist has one, they make his bass not sound dull and boring, but give it life (btw he doesnt have a shitty bass, its a fender J bass with active pickups, just that with this turned on it sounds so much better :D)

you may also be interested in their character series.. sounds interesting

lol. i was talking to my bassist. he says although the rack one is twice the price its worth it (he has the pedal one cos hes a poor student, but i think hes tried it and knows of lots of pro bassists with great tone that use it for live tone).

More to start saving for lol. I'm going to be scaling down my live rig again and upgrading my recording rig. Firewire upgrade

cool, what are you looking at changing?

Probably my current mixing desk/usb set up. A preamp (which the sans amp will do nicely) Just bought Scott's Midi controller/usb midi interface. Going to get a 3630 as well and probably a decent synth. As well as some nice new Mic's.

Sam, are you still looking for a floyd'd guitar?

If so, go try one of these...NOW :ninja:

was going back to see if my peavey was there so i could get it back, but it wasn't. this was, and i tried it - it's quite similar, but better in many ways.

o.O That looks pretty nice! I prefer the peavey tbh though shapes a bit more interesting :p
