HEAD EXPLODE!!! How is the bassist doing that wob wob skrillex sound?

What's that attached to the guitar players guitar also?

There is a ring like thing with the blue LED on the bassists picking hand which is a motion sensor sending control signals to a filter. More precisely this: http://www.sourceaudio.net/products/hothand/wah.php

What goes into the filter is a mystery. Distortion is evident but i think there must be some detuning+octave thing going on making a fatter detuned synth osc sound. Maybe just a slight chorus for detuning.

There is a comment (the highest rated one) under a solo vid of the bassist guy explaining his setup but i think it doesn't cover everything.

edit: he maybe uses this: http://www.sourceaudio.net/products/hothand/midi_exp.php to control an other filter or the cutoff on his boss synth pedal

All I can think of is why he would play bass with a glove...

In regards to what he uses, someone on youtube mentioned:

for all who want to know what pedals and bass he uses, i found the answer in an interview he gave. He uses the Boss SYB-5 and used the Midi-EXP for the expression. After the he added some distortion with the Ibanez Phat Hed. The Bass is a Spector. Probably a Performer or legend in holoflash. Check out the Spector Site. But i know that this model is not build like that.

So I'd say it could likely be this. The synth can probably do the detune-octave thing. The hot hands sounds like it'd probably be set in on a wah type thing. Whether it's used into the expression of the SYB-5, I'm a bit dubious. We would have seen a lot more people doing dubstep covers with rocker pedals than flailing hands by now.

@Pear, you're probably right, I thought I saw that Midi-EXP on the floor during the song.

He uses the bass envelope filter instead of that SYB-5
