Hopix
 I wouldn't say "hard solid metal," but it's definitely metallic.

Citizen Erased 01
How isn't it metallic? I would call it slightly heavy rock tbh. I don't consider any Muse songs to be metal, but I have a very high standard of what I consider metal, so it's obviously just my opinion
Spectrum IV
Drop-tuned fast distorted riffage is a fairly "metal" stereotype. Even Matt called it metal. Nobody really cares if it's br00tal enough for your standards.

Citizen Erased 01
Metal fans scoff at metal being metal. There's an element of truth in that
Peter.
distorted riff =/= metal.. it's like calling new born metal.

topo_musero
distorted riff =/= metal.. it's like calling new born metal. Well, I think that riff could fit in a metal song, although it's obvious that "The Globalist" is not a metal song

Nature2
Does anybody else have to think of the Django Unchained soundtrack when listening to the beginning of the song? You haven't really watched any Western movies (apart from Django that is, if we can consider it a pwoper western movie, not just a pastiche), have you? :>
Citizen Erased 01
wikipedia lies on a daily basis about pretty much everything
Stewez26
There are so many sub-genres of metal, Muse probably have a few songs that could qualify, even if only just
Citizen Erased 01
There are so many sub-genres of metal, Muse probably have a few songs that could qualify, even if only just add hard rock onto that and everything gets fucked. I personally class heavy Muse as hard rock/prog rock but yeah it seems to be pretty subjective
Strangeseas
add hard rock onto that and everything gets fucked. I shall proudly declare the definition. It's about the melody. At least once someone said that to me when I asked. hard rock = melodic riffs metal = non-melodic riffs But what is hardcore then? Ask the metal archive! Katy
You haven't really watched any Western movies (apart from Django that is, if we can consider it a pwoper western movie, not just a pastiche), have you? :> Well, I have. But I was a child and just watched them because my father did, so that's long ago and I can't say I remember them or the soundtracks a lot :-) Why? There's just that one song on the Django soundtrack with that whisteling that the very first whistle in The Globalist reminds me of. By now the song has turned into one of my favourites by the way. MalvaBlanco
kind of makes sense I suppose I dunno, Iron Maiden is pretty melodic isn't it? And it's the quintessential metal band.
