JessicaSarahS
I was listening to Larger Than Life a couple days ago. I bet Matt did too.
Priad-Luabe
I can't help but feel there are just too many words in this song for it ever to become a sing along, good single! It's like, I get the idea it's the introduction to a story but it's soooo wordy. this ^ will be a good track to dance/gyrate to though
crushpunch
I think it half depends on when you became a fan... Supermassive Black Hole is the track that got me into Muse. Since then, they've released stuff like Uprising, Undisclosed Desires, Madness etc. and this is the sound I expect to come from them. That's exactly what has happened here... and I like it. That's not to say I don't like their old stuff, otherwise I wouldn't be on this forum. I think just because of the time I became a fan, I'm more likely to enjoy their 'pop' side... Which, from the reaction of some people here, is like being slapped round the face with a pair of hairy balls. yeah, the twilight effect:thumbsup:
ronaldo789
This and Madness are some of the best material Muse has put out there.
DublinNeil
If the "usual excuses" include you not understanding the narrative and not having heard the interview with Matt from tonight, then sure. As I said, by all means drink the cool aid. There's very valid reasons for disliking this song and the direction the band have gone in, irrespective of the lines Matt trots out. alibros
If it wasn't Matt I would have said I'm pretty sure there's some serious Auto Tuning here and there in the track...
Niall
yeah, the twilight effect:thumbsup: I became a fan with New Born and got hooked by Dead Star/SS but I love love love SBH and UD and DI.

Hopix
I still don't quite know what to say about it. All I can say is I hope it fits in musically and thematically on the album.

I mentioned earlier, but it flows really well into Psycho. The first lyric of Psycho matches up perfectly with the theme of Dead Inside.

Yes, I was rather happy about that. I adore it when themes and lyrics are linked in such a way.
oceansize
I like it. At least it has darker vibe than other Muse pop songs.
DublinNeil
i dont get the metaphor "drink the cool aid"..... am i being a tard here?...besides that shit is nasty Apologies, it's "kool". Basically it's a phrase that means you accept something because of who says/does it without stepping back and forming your own opinions. There's a lot of that with Muse, and bands in general. Agree with you about the actual drink being nasty
CitizenAroused
I wish I liked the song even half as much as I love the vocals I agree so much with this. Saying that the last third of Dead Inside is better then the last third of Madness is like saying the Unnatural Selection riff is better then the New Born riff. Priad-Luabe
EDIT: To be frank, I don't understand why people who hate Muse's more recent sound are even still on the boards. so they can be snarky and constantly complain that Origin of Symmetry is better than breathing EDIT: whilst belittling all who have a different opinion
Gareeh
His delivery and the lyrics from 2:50 onwards are abysmal and make me want to throw up, possibly his worst yet. Also the solo is meh, but I like the general sound of the song.

Agree with you about the actual drink being nasty unfortunately....its there with anything, i genuinely like it...i dig the retro electro style, i REALLY dig matts vocals, you can hear that he feels this one, theres something.......extra (for want of a better word) in his voice....and this going into psycho sets the narrative for the rest of the album. I love a lot of their new stuff, old stuff, and pop stuff, and there are only a handful of Muse songs that I genuinely dislike. This happens to be one of them now.
