Are these going to be anything like the originals though? reissue amps are generally pretty disappointing.

No way yet to know how close they'll actually be, but the company who bought the Supro rights seems pretty serious about making them accurate. I'm certainly excited to see.

James? :erm:

I bet it's Guitar Center. Expect a "Limited Edition Fender Custom Shop Bob Dylan New Port Folk Festival Tribute 1965 Stratocaster Master Built Relic" in the next couple of months, priced accordingly at $25k.

Either that or it's Paul Allen. Don't know how much of a Dylan fan he is.

So you'll be using a peddle that models the amp you actually play through?

/texas

Do we know who is actually building these amps? I thought zinky or whatever it was called owned the supro name

 I already do that!

Zinky sold the Supro rights to Pigtronix's parent company.

Edit: All the info is here: http://jimbugg.wordpress.com/2013/12/05/supro-amps/

Oh right

And that's interesting. I'll definitely be checking them out. pigtronix makes good stuff anyway, but we'll see how true to the originals these are...

They're made less than an hour away from me as well.... :shifty:

Hmm, I should come see you and we can take a factory tour :awesome: Yeah, I'm hopeful that Pigtronix is going to put the proper care into recreating the original amps. They've already gone so far as to reproduce the tolex, so that's neat (and perhaps a good sign).

I saw it on Facebook along with the hundreds of comments moaning about it being a 'waste', I'm pretty sure it was one of his squire sigs anyway?

My favourite comment was the one (probably of many) that claimed he had "no right" to do that to it. These silly rockstars thinking they can do what they want with their own possessions!

Tom, I thought you were exaggerating when you said hundreds.... there are close to 2000 comments saying it's "murder" and "a crime"

Here are some of my favorites. I didn't read through all of them though

"A Fender guitar is like a living creature."

"pointless and immoral... there are people starving..."

"Anyone crying about this needs to realize that no matter how great it is, at the end of the day it is still just metal and wood. A tool meant to be used. It was meant to create music for entertainment, and it was set on fire as entertainment. Loosen up."

"Really? How 'bout if I just come over and burn your house down? It's just wood, plastic and metal, right? What an idiot."

Should do something like this and post it as a reply
