What has been your worst MUSE live experience so far?

Roskilde 2010.

Boring crowd, and having seen them (Muse) absolutely tear the stage apart in Paris a few weeks earlier (the 12th), I thought that being a festival I'd get a show at least as energetic with a chance rarity or two.

Nup. I'm not sure if only getting to the site a few hours beforehand had something to do with it, but for what I consider to be the best live band I've ever seen, they were disappointingly pedestrian.

Forking out a total of £375 (£180 for the festival ticket, rest on flights and accommodation) for the privilege didn't ease the pain either.

I remember the horror stories out of that Phoenix gig. I hopped on a plane after work in NYC and made it to the arena just as We are the Universe started up, so I missed the queuing disaster.

Curious, does someone care to share what happened with the queue that night?

Oakland. Fans trying to control the queue, putting numbers on our hands and all this bullshit. We moved closer to the arena and sat in a shady spot and were out of order and one "fan" flipped her shit, thinking we were trying to cut!:LOL: Funniest thing I've seen. 20 something year old fan just going ape shit because she thought she wouldn't get her spot or get to have her face pressed against Matt's crotch or something hahaha! Who knows! There was still a two hour wait! Everyone knew their order. We had been sitting with everyone since 10am. We don't need to stay in our "proper spot" the whole time. We said we'd let people walk in front of us, I didn't care. We were all going to make it on barrier anyhow. I just wanted to sit on a comfy spot! Yeesh.:stunned: Those people really needed to get laid. If I see that girl, I'm going to get in her face and tell her to sit the fuck down, Dom Howard style!

Phoenix 2010.

Set in stone that Wembley would be my last Muse gig.

Same for me. They must completely change their live show before I pay them a visit again. Bought tickets for 7 fucking shows this tour and they were still almost the same up till now.

Agreed.

Worst security I have ever come across, some serious douchebags in the queue, Muse were the worst I've ever seen them and to top it off someone got sick in my shoes.

:awesome:

ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY AGREE :fear:

Pretty much everyone who wanted barrier (mainly boardies, but some others too) lined up outside the main entrance to the venue for the entire day. Once we got inside the venue, they had us line up by a door into the actual arena and handed out wristbands. So we were all excited because we were in the front, but then the US Airways people took some people behind us in line and lined them up by a door closer to the arena. As if that wasn't bad enough, apparently they also opened the east entrance without really telling anyone, so some people who had only waited for 30 minutes (or had just shown up and walked in) were already at the barrier by the time people who had waited all day got in the main entrance. Those fuckers got one of Dom's sticks too!

TLDR: They fucked the people who had been waiting at the venue all day. You can read all the horror experiences in the Phoenix gig thread.

You've been to see Muse 48 times?! Surely that's some kind of record.

This is now my goal in life...

She should get some kind of reward from the band when she gets to 50.

Yes, I've seen them 48 times now. Wembley Stadium on 10th Sept will be my 50th and as long as they put on a good show, which they always do anyway, that will be reward enough :)

Mine is also the 12th november gig at the o2. what makes it worse is they played cave and mk ultra the second night :-( also i was stuck in the seats and everyone around me stayed seated appart from these two twats who were dancing as if they were at a miley cyrus gig lol

Yeah, this one wasn't the best.. late on because of the Royal Albert Hall Gig.. boy am I glad I didn't go to that - did you see it on TV? Now THAT has to be the worst Muse performance of their entire history right there... it was dreadful. It made me question why I actually go to see them.... I think it was the night that Matt and Giai split up.. At least I think that was what was said in the NME special edition interview....

Dire performance though.... best bit was meeting up with Muserboardmates :D

Liverpool 2009.

16 songs... barely on for 1 and a half hours... Muse were very below-par. What a waste of money. The only good thing was the Chinese buffet earlier in the day.

I didn't think this was as bad as you did, but you had been to lots of gigs in the weeks before and was able to compare... the set list was DEFFO short though, I remember being stood at the end saying, surely that's not IT.. there must be another encore or something... worst bit though was getting out of the car park... AAARRGGHHH!

I saw Muse in Manchester in 2006. Unfortunately I had seating tickets and all the way through the gig there was some chav woman dancing infront of me and totally blocking my view. I would have said something but she was with these two other big chav guys that were smoking weed, about 2 songs from the end they were asked to leave.

This was my first Muse gig, had fantastic seats... bopped all night with a great crowd.. possible one of my fave gigs... Often it is people around you that make the experience bad. I had a right drunken Knobhead sat behind me at the 2nd Wemley night in 07.. man he was a dick.. I ended up losing my rag with him big time.. eventually he was that drunk he had to be taken out of the arena.

i am worried now. i *might* be going to my first Muse concert in New York in October, but I live in Saint Louis, so it's a big deal for my parents to take me and someone else and all (since im only 16) and after reading this im worried it'll either be a short performance or the crowd around me will suck

Yea but you only saw them when they became a pop act your quantity may beat many but the tours of LP's you've seen them on & the repeated sets don't me shit from shite.

That's an Epic fail, where were you when I saw them in 1999 & you got age on me as well. Oh well another person who exceeds cause of commercial success

Earls Crt 2004

Not so great, terrible atmosphere. Piss poor crowd, band wagon shites who just got into Muse on the 3rd LP, then again that's about 85% of this entire forum I bet.

Terrible atmosphere? Though i couldn't witness it in person, Earls Court is renowned as being one of the band's finest shows. You can tell from the reaction of the band after Stockholm Syndrome that they really enjoyed the night. Amazing setlist too, how did you not enjoy it? :wtf:

If you're being serious, you are such a stupid dick.

To clarify, not cause you thought Earl's Court was your worst gig, but because you seem to think liking them since Showbiz means you're better than everyone or something.

This is one of the most ridiculous posts I've read on this forum. So you saw them in 1999. That makes you a better than everyone else here?

Its not my fault I hadn't heard their music until recently. Stop acting like it makes us lesser fans.

V festival 2008- spent the entire day getting completed squished at the front (i know I shouldn't complain as you should kind of expect it if you want to be at the barrier...but i literally couldn't move ALL day)...and people moshing to Alanis Morrisette...really..? :stunned:

By the time muse came on I was already feeling fed up. Within about 10 minutes I'd lost one of my friends in the crowd. The majority of people around me weren't even Muse fans...just drugged up idiots who'd pushed their way to the front and completely ruined the experience for me.

Can't complain much about the setlist (apart from it being pretty similar to the previous week's at Marlay Park) Had some really good songs, including Dead Star which I was really surprised to see them bring out at a festival, but i couldn't enjoy it because I was getting punched and kicked from all angles and have never had so many people crowd surf over my head! Can't understand people in fight pits/crowd surfing-stop ruining gigs for everyone else!

And a recurring problem is girls with big frizzy hair-I really don't enjoy having it in my face! Tie it up for christ sake!!

1. V Festival, for the same reasons mentioned above. It has since put me off going to music festivals in the UK.

2. Bologna...because of the short aggressive Italian girls behind me. Arghhh, bloody nightmare.

3. Goffertpark because of the badly designed stageset for the Stadium tour. Only saw Chris and Dom's head from the front barrier location.

However, still enjoyed the gigs and Muse performed great.

What I'm saying is that, if you weren't at the gigs I attended you can't comment, I made specific remark to the EC gig in 2004 no other ones.

Just because someone's seen them 38 times or 300 times the point is that, its been only since they became a pop band.

I don't care when I saw them, its just that where was Ms 3232 Muse gigs when they were better??

No, no the issue isn't the gigs but you can't just say that they were better before Absolution like it's a fact and act like you're above everyone based on that.

Muse were not Pop on the 3rd LP, they were pop on the 4th

Muse started to influx a new set of fan base from the woeful TIRO single

Muse's performances were very good/electric up until 2007 but now its just fancy sets & repetitive set lists

Commercialism & the rest of it, boring. boring Zzzzz...........for me but for the rest its like Xmas everyday

You seem to be talking about Helen T here (correct me if I'm wrong) and you quoted her saying this:

Yes, I've seen them 48 times now. Wembley Stadium on 10th Sept will be my 50th and as long as they put on a good show, which they always do anyway, that will be reward enough

But that was in response to something else entirely, not to anything you said.
