Thanks again, Gianni. Yes the key is NOT TO BUY from these scummers. No matter how desperate you are. And yep, bands need to do a Glastonbury/Trent and set up their own system to stop it from happening in the first place.

there are people with tickets in hand for the 02 gigs on ebay, is that possible if they went down to the venue to get them? would they have printed them right there and then?

Yeah, see the Story of the O2 Box Office thread - there was an open box office at the stadium. Wish I'd done that now too, and stinkpalmed a few touts.

That is an appalling story, but I'm sure it only counts for a small % of tickets bought by touts. The fact that a lot of good (Level 1) tickets end up on ebay when loads of us get "server busy" messages must mean that touts have a "back door" in to the ticket buying process. It stinks.

I agree - Do NOT BUY tickets from ebay. If we get any spare sell them on Musebay.

On the other hand how do we know touts arent buying them from musebay?

this is really annoying to say the least. Not living close to any of the venues i tried to buy online. i couldn't even get on the website till 10:30am and i'd been trying to get on since 8:50 am.

tickets that were £42 are now £190 on some websites. grrrrrrrr

+ fucking 1.

Honest fans just can't get tickets. Trufax.

Because we have mods. If someone logs onto the board with something like MUSROCKFOREVERANDSHIT then its either a 13 year old/a tout.

cos if its musebay u can easily get a tout uninterested... meet at the gig? meet in person? talk to the regularly thru email/on here before you send everything as the tickets wont be around for a while

even just mentioning stuff like this can make touts just bored of waiting and give up on them

EDIT: but yeah sadly this is common at box offices - im pissed i didnt go down now a couple of hours early

I got 4 seated tickets for the 13th at O2 arena when I asked for 4 standing (:@), would it be worth trying to swap these tickets on the day with a tout, possibly paying a bit more money to them aswell, what are the chances the tickets would be real etc.? thanks

Don't play their game!

Use the touts and you only make the situation worse. Besides, you are likely going to be swapping your genuine ticket for a fake one. If the tout seems pleased about the swap that'll be the giveaway.

If he's got better tickets and they're real, he'll probably want to charge a (large) fee for the swap.

Just swap here at no cost (except postage maybe).

First though, I'd keep checking for new standing tickets. New tickets come up a lot as people cancel, and they could spring up right up until November! Then you can sell the other tickets (at face value please).

Maybe try for standing on the 12th also.

Well I couldn't get a ticket but can't agree with that Mozza, I'm 45 but sitting at a gig would seriously hinder my enjoyment, I like to be where the action is because being in the crowd is pretty much what live music is about.

If I'm honest though sitting for a Muse gig would be far better than not going at all, which looks very probable at the moment.

I've only done 3 Muse gigs so far, but can assure you the seating areas can be just as much a crowd. In fact you'll be hard pressed to find anyone sitting anyway.

The only difference really is you're not getting crushed, you can't jump up and down like a loon, and you actually get to see the band and not 100s of heads in front of you;) (being not too tall makes that a problem for me).

@DeadKenny (or anyone who can help): hello :) so you think I'll be finding a ticket for friday as well? it'll be my first time at a muse live, and would prefer to attend both days since I'll be traveling all the way from here...

it all depends how many dont sel before the gig - i mean ive seen gigs where touts are still walkin around offerin tickets and acceptin below face value prices cos they just want them off their hands - and whats better than makin a tout lose money

I would imagine that someone selling on Musebay would have the sense to check that the person they are selling to hasn't just joined the forum. Besides, I can't see that it would be worth a tout's while for so few tickets, really.

Someone give me a description of a tout and I'll go up to one on the day and pretend I don't know they're a tout and start spaffing about something like the time Matt did the shuffle. See if they try and sell me something :p

This is long but please read:

After the pre sale fiasco & previous experiences these days in buying tickets online I knew that the chances of getting tickets online were going to be as tough as putting an egg yolk back into it shell, so I felt that I would have a much better choice by actually going to the venue.

I checked twice over 2 days whether or not the O2 would be selling tickets or not & at what time as they usually open at midday, so it was confirmed they would start selling them at 9am, so I decided to go there.

I felt if I arrived at least a good hour or so before 9am I would have a decent chance, it turns out I got there at 7.55am & there were about only 15 people in the queue ahead of me, so I knew my chances now were very good.

But the story unfolds………

There were some proper Muse fans at the start of the queue about 4/5, (trust me I could tell) then the people behind were with families & kids, a bit odd & I spotted 1 tout already. Then there were 2 typical chav girls in front of me with their babies with them, smoking, on their iphone talking about all sorts of adventures & I knew something was wrong straight away, there not fans. I just knew they wouldn't know a guitar from a machine gun.

I was joined 10 mins in the queue later by 2 touts. It was so obvious we’ve all seen what they look like & know they all look the same, if people didn’t know touts have their own ‘language’ in how they communicate amongst one another. I pretended to be listening to my MP3 player but I heard it all, the touts who joined the queue were calling other touts to tell them how the queue was, now, the following will make many people including me furious & sick & I felt worse as I was there.

How The Touts Do It:

The touts behind me didn’t know even know Muse were playing on the 13th but were saying amongst each other ‘If you can’t get standing’ ‘Get Level 1’ now there was one familiar character who seem to know everyone in the queue (apart from the fans/me) who was going around telling his troops in what to buy etc

All the women in the queue ahead of me & probably a fair few behind me were in on it, what the touts do is get the women to join the queue early for them, then after a while the touts join them, then they tell their entourage in the queue in what to buy. I counted a good 15 from what I could see & I’m 6ft. The queue by 8.30am possibly had about 80/90 people.

They were even giving them phone calls/texts messages in what to say & the Box Office because they know its something these women don’t do often & they can’t afford to get it wrong, one of the women & blokes was repeating ‘6 standing Muse’ but morons you can only get 4!!!! Either way my rage was building through this whole time I waited. The more I saw them, the more I was swearing under the sun.

I hate to say it my friends but at least a good 60 standing tickets that I saw went into the hands of pure scum & evil, hence why tickets are in hand as I got mine. I don't know how many more fell into the wrong hands but they did.

As I left at about 9.10am & walked back to the station I gave the slime in front of me the dirtiest look possible & looked a few of them dead in the eye with pure hatred, as much as I was happy in getting tickets I was in pure rage & hate for them & sad for the fans who wanted to be there, if only measures were taken into stopping them buying them at the Box Office, many fans would have been better off! I mean, I'd give them a quick 2/3 question test at the box office just to be sure! I mean fans would queue early not women with kids.

If people didn’t even know me & they were Muse fans, bloody hell I’d say yea, join me in the queue!!! But the only way to beat them is to not buy them, it’s the only way we can stop this. I hate to say it but there were more touts in that queue than fans.

Thanks for reading

Mods/Admin can you leave this thread here for awhile then merge it with 'Advice' later, I'd like people to know/read this.

>:( they sicken me.. ugh

i think they should make it illegal.. suprise all those douche bags on ebay selling them for hundreds and fakes... it's just disgusting.

Personally I think we should organise some attack on the touts nearer the time - esp on ebay.

Set up fake accounts, use expired cards or w.e you need to not mess up your own account and buy/put huge bids on thier tickets as near to the dates as possible and hold them up and not pay so by the time theyve put it back on its too late, they dont sell the tickets and they get put at a huge loss for the expense of nothing to us.

I'm sick of seeing how many people I know have missed out on tickets cause of these scum I think its about fucking time someone took revenge on them and put them out of pocket better so if it's coordinated.

I'd be up for it I don't know about anyone else.

I don't see why selling on football tickets is illegal but isn't for other sports or for music? it seem rediculous

Exactly. There isn't much difference... we're all going to a 'venue' to see something. The music industry needs to get its' finger out its' own arse & start taking action.

Obvious solution to me seems to have the purchaser named on the tickets and verified on entry to the gig - problem solved

How would that work though? I used my mum's card (with her permission of course), and bought 3 tickets for me and two friends. Does that mean that we wouldn't get let in because none of us are my mum?

You could put the attendee name on it - even if you used your Mum's card - just one more field to fill out on seetickets etc. They do this on certain theatre tickets, and I think Radiohead did it once too

...though i can see this creating even more problems - having the tout join you at the gig ;-)
