podiumboy
maybe they can make co-headlining stadium shows for a tour with another band in arena-level such as coldplay in usa? That'd be awesome, I'd go for that! But I'd still prefer to see both bands at their own arena shows. I'm mad at Coldplay right now! Didn't come to Ohio at all on the MX tour. Haven't seen them since 2006!
dylb88
this is getting way off topic but realistically, if Muse co-headlined a stadium tour with Coldplay (in North America).... about 65-70% of the fans there would be for coldplay

Gross per Gig: $540,000 Avg. Attendance per Gig: 9,500 Wow..looking at these numbers, I am quite shocked that they are doing a second leg of the USA later this year, compared to TR tour. I wonder how many people are going to attend MA and CT. But yes, there are still 10+ gigs TBA for the fall, so maybe they can bring up these numbers for the fall. If, in the fall, They where to play, say, Providence, RI, how do you think they would do? The arena here is 15,000 capacity for concerts. I guess we would have to see what append in Boston and Uncasville first, right? Here in RI, muse does have a big fan base, a radio station play muse nearly everyday. And I know many people who would go to that show.
podiumboy
I'd say there is a 95% chance they won't play in Providence. I don't think that's a LiveNation venue, hence why a lot of bands don't come there. Here are what I believe are POSSIBILITIES for the fall NA leg. Los Angeles Area- Possibly 2 shows. Probably won't be at Staples Center. Salt Lake City - Maverick Center Denver - Pepsi Center Kansas City - Sprint Center (half full) Milwaukee - Bradley Center (half full) Indianapolis - Bankers Life Fieldhouse - (half full) Nashville - Bridgestone Arena (half full) Pittsburgh - CONSOL Energy Center (half full) New York City - Barclays Center or Prudential Center in Newark. Philadelphia - Wells Fargo Center Washington D.C. - Verizon Center Charlotte- Time Warner Cable Arena (half full) Atlanta? - Gwinnett Center Austin- Austin City Limits Festival? Or Frank Erwin Center. OR AT&T Center in San Antonio. Toronto - Air Canada Center Ottawa - ScotiaBank Place Winnipeg - MTS Center Mexico City

Hmm,it seems a bit risky to do so many dates in the same area within less than a year. I think Europe is starting to see the results of this phenomenon, I mean for example many people I know aren't "yes! Another Muse show!" but "They are coming here again?" Than again, those are their major market bases in the US so it's obviously more than possible.

The tickets for the RI venue is Ticketmaster, but it is owned by The Rhode Island Convention Center Authority. But aside form that, that is about 20 shows for this fall leg, about the same # of shows as the 2nd TR fall leg. You may have a point for NYC at Barclays Center, though I could see that show happening. Still want them to come to RI, though. But overall, I think we would just have to see when the dates are announced soon, shall we?

Also keep in mind that 2nd leg TR tour was supposed to have more dates but a certain band member decided to have more babies. They only canceled Kansas City and St Louis, but reportedly dates in Florida and presumably elsewhere were also being prepared.. I hope for a Grand Rapids show this fall - they've surprisingly never played there. I suppose Indianapolis is far more likely though.

podiumboy
Too many gigs dude Well I never said they were going to do ALL of them. Those are just the possible cities they COULD do, if they had the time and wanted to squeeze every last dollar out of the US. Not sure why more European stats haven't been reported. I think a lot of Europe still falls under the system where each country has it's own promoter and ticketing agency, whereas the US is pretty much all LiveNation. muse samuse
This is the most interesting thread I've seen in year. I would love to see the stats on the European tours as a comparison. TR European stadium tour in 2010 generated about US$40 million in ticket sales. T2L European stadium tour (20 gigs) in 2013 should produce estimated concert revenues in the range of US$35 to $40 million. The two sold out gigs at Stade de France should take in US$10-12 million assuming an average attendance of 75-80k per show. Muse T2L Tour Estimated Concert Grosses by Geographic Market (2012-14): US$20-23 million (Europe Arenas Fall 2012) US$19-21 million (US Arenas Winter/Spring & Fall 2013) US$35-40 million (Europe Stadiums Summer 2013) - A few more may be scheduled in 2014 US$4-5 million (Canada Arenas Winter/Spring 2013) US$2-4 million (Mexico Fall 2013) US$4-5 million (Japan Arenas/Festivals 2013) US$7-10 million (Australia/New Zealand arenas/festivals 2013/2014) US$1-2 million (Brazil Festival 2013) - Other South America dates may be added US$3-5 million (Possible Asia arenas/stadiums or festivals in Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Thailand)
