BLITZ # 55 (JANUARY 2011) FRIDAY, DECEMBER 24, IN BANKS

Matt Bellamy, Tom Morello, Mark Knopfler, Angus Young and Kurt Cobain on the cover of BLITZ January. The guitars, the 50 best soils and advice of teachers in the first edition of 2011. But there's more!

We could start by saying that we have never seen one with so many guitars in BLITZ - we would not lie, but it would diminish. After a "first volume" dedicated to the Guitar Heroes , where he pontificated Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page and Slash (and others!) BLITZ the January 2011 cover brings to a new crop of guitarists in rock history celebrated - but let us away, as will be seen bellow

On the frontline of the cover is Matt Bellamy , from Muse , considered by many the best guitarist in the rock century and that this edition, we uncover the secrets behind its original guitars - but we already there. Behind him - but no less important, of course - we found Mark Knopfler , "Sir" the sound of Dire Straits, Tom Morello , author of all burly riffs and solos of Rage Against The Machine, Angus Young , relentless engine of AC flicker / DC, and also a natural choice, that of Kurt Cobain , who by his iconic character is not always remembered as a guitarist - but it is vital that the fury of the guitars of Nirvana came out, probably the last band to turn upside down a generation.

Who is on the side of rock - and the instrument is inevitably associated with it - not out of the No. 55 BLITZ empty-handed. Consider this: Matt Bellamy , figurehead of the Muse and student of guitar, shows us his custom guitars, with detailed explanations and know how essential the builder Hugh Manson guitars, which helps the guitarist to fulfill the dreams of Electric Muse.

In an article for those who make the crucial area of his greatest aspiration guitar, unravel the secrets of the DeLorean , 007 , Bomber , MB-1 Red Glitter , Keytar and Casino Caster - in other words, the guitars that made the brand image the Muse. Learn how to get even the sound of Muse without a custom guitar - it's all the effects!

Over six pages, you can find those who consider the 50 best guitar solos of all time . The criteria? Others: not only the technical implementation and the complexity of the soil, but also the importance it gained in rock history, the emotion, and even - why not? - The deceptive simplicity of some cases. We also found behind the list, detailed explanations of each of these institutions of rock and derivatives, the inspiration of Slash thoroughness of Ritchie Blackmore. Or in other words, everything you ever wanted to know about the summit of hymns like "Stairway To Heaven" (Led Zeppelin) , "November Rain" (Guns N'Roses) or even "Paranoid Android" (Radiohead) . We relive those moments of inspired names like Jimi Hendrix , Stevie Ray Vaughan , Josh Homme , Brian May , Dimebag Darrell , and of course the noble knights who illustrated the cover of BLITZ - among many others.

"The progress of this soil is wrong," Eric Clapton on land that did for "Crossroads" from Cream.

Yeah, as much as we love Matt, there's no way you can say he's the best guitarist of this rock century. One of the best showmen, for sure, but not that.

THIS century, no question imo.

Are there any guitarists you can think of from 2000 onwards (Ones that really appeared in that time rather than comebacks) who're better than Bellamy??

I agree. Sure, Matt's not the best guitarist around right now, of course he's not better than Morello. But since 2000, I can't think of anyone who's better than Matt.

Well, since Muse started in the 90's, surely that would mean that other guitarists that were around before this centruy could be included too? Josh Homme etc. I don't know a lot of other guitarists from this century that have anything close to Matt's skill though, so you're probably right anyway. :p

Matt skills did only come to light after Showbiz was released, which came out October '99

Oh how I hate Blitz magazine :noey: when they write their own articles, they suck, so they just stick to 'steal' and translate articles from magazines like Q.

Plus, putting Matt on the front is their way to sell more mags I'm sure (not to mention the bad vector guitar they tried to put in Matt's hands...and the horrible photoshoped cover)

what a joke
