Think I remembered that best Butterflies performance from the other page, swear there used to be a good multi-cam or pro-shot but this was all I could find:

As for the Abso Tour, it's cliche to say Glastonbury but holy fuck me:

Don't think I've listened to that version in aaages and now I'm seriously questioning why :chuckle:

Still not sure why I don't like the studio songs as much as I like those first performances. Could be production, and it could also be that my opinion of the album as a whole has brought all the songs down with it. I just can't get on board with the genre-jumping and...meh, I honestly don't know.

I've never been one of those "Revolt ruined the other songs" people, or even someone who cares in the slightest if there's any coherence to an album, but I agree that not a single song on T2L lived up to the live versions I saw in those vids.

Follow Me was just the biggest offender.

Follow Me was also the most obvious answer, though, in that at least vocally, the studio version almost sounds like a cover of the original song.

There's absolutely no passion in the studio version, and it's a song that relies on that big "moment."

So, I guess I've always believed it was the production, coupled with Bellamy's failure to elicit the proper emotive quality to the vocals. The latter I always thought was a big problem in TR, too.

The worst offender was Supremacy imo. I still remember everyone freaking out at how batshit mental the very first shakycam, awful quality minute-long clip that someone got up on YT sounded. The studio version ended up being soooo sterile in comparison, not only because of the cold production but I still think Dom should've gone way harder on the drums there.

The heavier parts of Animals suffer from the same as well but thankfully the bulk of the song still sounds super lush so it's more forgivable.

I've noticed I mostly pretend the TR era was an Exo EP instead.

:noey:

I've always really liked this version of Hysteria. I like how loud the guitar is mixed (and handlebar 'tache Chris :awesome:).

Still not a patch on this one though. Back when Muse would rock up, play one song, and absolutely blow everyone out the water.

It's honestly hard to believe the Hysteria I saw this year was the same song. :(

Shit, I'd never seen that before actually, that's great :stunned:

Easily up there with Shepherds Bush for best Black Holes performance imo. The passion in Matt's voice, the surprisingly good sounding guitar (for that era), them harmonics before the second chorus
