Seaking
They'll try to steal your life So watch your back You're not alone But you must actualise The first attack Having a love affair with Assassin. Especially those last two lines. Lose control, lose your faith Lingering hours, time to erase Lose control, lose your faith Lingering hours, turn to the grave Personally, I like to mix Debase and the album version together with the lyrics 'cause there's bits I love from both. I do the same with Exo-Politics and Plug In Baby too.

altbecky
Glorious is bringing me to tears lately. But that might have more to do with my own current crisis of faith than the actual quality of the lyrics, who knows. Faith It drives me away But it turns me on, like a stranger's love It rockets through the universe It fuels the lies, it feeds the curse Believes we could be glorious I need to believe But I still want more with the cuts and the bruises Don't close the door On what you adore Pretty much sums up how I am feeling right now. Faith, you're driving me away You do it everyday You don't mean it But it hurts like hell My brain says I'm receiving pain A lack of oxygen From my life support My iron lung We're too young to fall asleep To cynical to speak We are losing it Can't you tell? We scratch our eternal itch A twentieth century bitch And we are grateful for Our iron lung The headshrinkers, they want everything My uncle Bill, my Belisha beacon The headshrinkers, they want everything My uncle Bill, my Belisha beacon Suck, suck your teenage thumb Toilet trained and dumb When the power runs out We'll just hum This, this is our new song Just like the last one A total waste of time My iron lung The headshrinkers, they want everything My uncle Bill, my Belisha beacon The headshrinkers, they want everything My uncle Bill, my Belisha beacon And if you're frightened You can be frightened You can be, it's OK And if you're frightened You can be frightened You can be, it's OK The headshrinkers, they want everything My uncle Bill, my Belisha beacon
kueller
I wish I had a dollar for every time I saw someone comparing those 2 lyrics as evidence that Muse is a Radiohead ripoff.

that-girl-over-there
Wash me away, Clean your body of me, Erase all the memories, They only bring us pain. The lyrics just written down don't really do it justice. The way it goes from the angsty, intense, mood of the start of the song to the slow, dreamy part is really It's sort of like it's letting out a sigh, like it's finally letting go of something and is at peace That's my little bit of deep-ness for the day
altbecky
yeah, um, aside from the one line, I don't think the two songs are alike at all. They don't mean the same thing either. I mean, to me, anyway.
sam_forbes13
pink ego box was genius but really, sing for absolution has some good lyrics. T2L has some horrible lyrics, songs like survival and supremacy make me cringe. "brainwashing our children to be mean"?

You can say that every album has horrible lyrics, if you just take the song with bad lyrics Best songs for lyrics IMO are Citizen Erased, Screenager, Hoodoo, Assassin, Burning Bandits, Fury, Megalomania, Futurism and maybe Glorious and City Of Delusion. Aye. Animals too. My favourite lyrics are the CoD ones, I think.

OriginOfAbso
Map of the Problematique has always been one of my favorites lyrically. It could just be the way it is sung. In the second half, Matt's singing coupled with the frantic music gives an almost desperate feel to it that make the lyrics stand out. Something like that. And (if true) I like the "fear and panic in the air" reference to the name of Mars's moons, which were named after the Greek gods of Fear and Panic. Clever tie in to the theme of the album. ZRoy626
Someone tell me why she breaks my fall and then breaks my heart ^ That hurts me, it's a simple line but the way Matt sings it. Oof I really dig Easily and Map of The Problematique too. And can we all agree how cool Matt sings the line "Kill yourself. Come on and do us all a favor." in Animals
