If you could re-order/re-track a Muse album, how would you do it?

Take A Bow (w/ live outro)

Map Of The Problematique

Supermassive Black Hole

Assassin (Debase version)

City Of Delusion

Hoodoo

Knights Of Cydonia

Cut BH&R to that and it would probably be my favourite Muse album.

I'd stick in the 2004/05 version of Crying Shame in there too. Cracking song with great vocals and a great riff

lol so make it an EP basically

Long EP. Would come in at around 33 minutes.

Is there anything significantly better about the older version of CS? I think I've only ever heard the studio version and it always sounded fine to me.

The 04/05 version was much darker.

It doesn't have that ridiculous riff and it's as Clunge says, much darker. Not to mention that the falsetto is so good.

...when the classic/established album format is/was 40 minutes? :erm:.

Yes, we're not limited by vinyl any more, but I'd still say anything 30 mins plus falls into the 'album' category.

How about a band like The Ramones, who rarely wrote a song longer than three minutes. Their first album was 14 tracks, coming in at 29 minutes. Does that make it an EP?

Terms line EP and LP are pretty redundant frankly when there are no longer any constraints by which music cand and should be published.

I was just being a little facetious, honestly, I listen to a lot of prog so I'm used to albums beings way in excess of 60 minutes. Haken, for example, just released an EP which was 35 minutes long and they called it an EP, it was 3 tracks (so maybe no of tracks is a factor too?), as their standard albums clock at about 70 minutes. In this case I think it's a relative thing, the EP length relative to the album length is what defines it as EP or album.

Maybe it's tied to the genre you play, too?

I guess I like Crying Shame but I always thought the chorus sounded like a song by The Killers. And I could never get past that super annoying riff, but I do enjoy the lyrics and I like The Killers so I think the chorus is good. Just not very Muse-y

Are you sure you aren't talking about Revolt? Its chorus has basically the same vocal melody of the bridge in All These Things That I Have Done.
