This is officially the most anticipated track on Drones for me. So what are people's thoughts, will this be a stand-alone story or will it continue from Aftermath?

Matt said the narrative comes to an end in Aftermath and that The Globalist has its own self-contained narrative. There'll probably be some thematic continuation though.

So we're getting this live, plus the original Citizen Erased (according to Matt (probably bullshit))

I don't think they play it at festivals.

Where did Matt say this? Because I was hoping they'd play both together live.

I reckon they could play it at a few but definitely not all, hoping this is a staple in th main tour though.

Aftermath is the end of the protagonists POV. The Globalist and Drones will be part of the same concept, just from a general POV.

I think this could have the mobster/Godfather-like solo/riff...

Agreed, it could start off like that, all sinister and eerie, and develop into something huge, and epic

Matt: The first half sounds like something from a film, then it goes to a middle section that metal, then the outro is a big piano ballad.

So basically strings-->crazy riffage -->outro à la CE?

Mind = blown

Certainly sounds that way! Matt says it's one of his favourite tracks.

Strings? Could it be the Instagram clip with the Milan strings then?

Also, looking forward that piano ballad ending, although I don't wanna think of this song as a CE sequel, as I want to keep my expectations low (or not as high as if I was thinking of a sequel)

If that's the case, I definitely think Drones will be something like Redemption or Ruled By Secrecy (preferably the latter).

Also, Milan strings and that 7-string IG clip maybe (not sure if they're in the same key)?

Do you have a link to the article? Or not online?

Thanks. So apparently The Handler's middle section has similarities to Showbiz the song. I remember Matt mentioning something about that on twitter earlier this year I think?

Dat description...

Not sure if "piano ballad" must be taken positively. The most recent Muse "piano ballad" is Explorers.

yeah

it does make sense, I guess. With the title and all

If this really is the song that sort of inspired the mindset of the entire album, I'm really, really looking forward to hearing it.

Of course, Matt sort of laughed through the entire thematic description of the song in an interview, so I'm also a bit apprehensive. :chuckle:
