alibros
Yea I'd love if it started with that then went to the chugging, then the riff! It would make an awesome intro to a show! what if it's mostly and instrumental, with spoken words only and a collection of drop D riffs?!
That_Italian_Guy
what if it's mostly and instrumental, with spoken words only and a collection of drop D riffs?! That'd be an odd choice for a single, tho

Alec Ferris
Well this just let me down. Using a riff they made 10 years ago is not a good sign.. It's probably a better riff than any on TR or T2L.

Jobby
MK Ultra? As much as I like MK Ultra, there's nothing really special about the riff.

LewisF
As much as I like MK Ultra, there's nothing really special about the riff. Which riff are you referring to? I didn't make it clear but I was referring to the spidery one at the start.
alibros
As much as I like MK Ultra, there's nothing really special about the riff. please, TR had MKUltra, Uprising, and US all with great outro riffs.
Hat
Which riff are you referring to? I didn't make it clear but I was referring to the spidery one at the start. Don't particularly like that one. It's quite special, but it really doesn't strike a chord with me.

Hopix
please, TR had MKUltra, Uprising, and US all with great outro riffs. And that's literally it. The best riff on TR was the US outro, and that is no where near the best Muse have.
Alec Ferris
uh what Plenty of bands use old riffs. Hell, Radiohead first wrote Nude as part of the Kid A sessions and that didn't go on an album for years.
kueller
As much as I like MK Ultra, there's nothing really special about the riff. The intro one is really cool. The Psycho/0305030 isn't really that special really (same RatM-ish formula as MK Ultra's ending riff), but it's just a great jam and it sounded great even from camera audio. MK Ultra's ending riff could probably be a lot heavier with that kind of punch.
jonisdead
please, TR had MKUltra, Uprising, and US all with great outro riffs. The US outro riff is the only thing remotely listenable about that song. Even then the guitar tone during the outro was ass. Dropped the ball big time on that uninspired track
Alec Ferris
Radiohead for example put Nude and Reckoner on In Rainbows, and both songs existed live for about 10 years before they were recorded. Should've know you'd say this before I could.

Yeah I know that. Just don't get why he thought it's a bad thing.
Alec Ferris
Wasn't Reckoner just the original name of Feeling Pulled Apart By Horses though? But yes you make a valid point You don't know Reckoner the finished song? Dude.
alibros
are we absolutely sure it's going to be 0305030. might a variation of it you know!
HomesickSubterranean
You don't know Reckoner the finished song? Dude. Dude. It's my favorite song by them. But I'm saying Reckoner was originally a title for another song before Reckoner as we know it today existed

alibros
Nah to the first part. The breakdown was awesome. the breakdown bit when the solo starts, hearing it live was great. that scratchy LOUD sound before it breaks in was quite good. I actually quite like US. (although to be honest thinking about it now I haven't listened to it for a long time)
