Lycosa Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 Hi, been registered for a while here, but this is my first post I think. Has anyone noticed similarities between the first part of the solo part in Uprising and the end riff of Micro Cuts? The Uprising solo seems to basically be the Micro Cuts end riff but backwards. Mystery ?

Lycosa Posted November 5, 2009 Author Posted November 5, 2009 He doesn't play the same notes there, it just sounds a bit similar. Uprising and Micro Cuts are (apart from rhythm) the same, one is just backwards.
davyb89 Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 kind of, but they're not the exact same notes for that part
Hopix Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 The final part of Microcuts is exactly the Yes Please main riff backwards.
Phil. Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 i said the same thing a while ago.. It is also the same notes as the ending riff for Freedom by RATM, just in a different rhythm... It is also the same notes as the riff right the way through Who knows who, in a different rhythm... Along with every other riff they ever play in the key of D! :LOL: SIMPLE RIFFS ON TEH D!
Lycosa Posted November 5, 2009 Author Posted November 5, 2009 Yes Please and Micro Cuts have the same notes? I just listenend to both and I'm not convinced... although they sound really alike. That riff seems really popular. Well, no conspiracy then.
JakeLulz Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 Listen to Micro Cuts backwards, then yes please forwards. Exactly the same.

F o x t o n Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 kinda , the ending to micro cuts is just epic tho, they arent the same riff but definately similar, but the build up to the ending of micro cuts ... oh my, immense
Museic Syndrome Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 I was gonna open a new thread but then I saw that this one exists. Today when I was playing the Uprising solo, I just started playing the notes backward, and voila, I was playing Micro Cuts , the ending. Identically the same, just backwards. Damn it, Matt, you even copied yourself on The Resistance! Good job, though!

Damn it, Matt, you even copied yourself on The Resistance! Good job, though! The two aren't identical. Yes Please is about as close as you can get sound-wise and notes-wise. As a side-note though, I've found you can fit the Micro Cuts riff into the Dead Star riff when playing it, helps mix it up a bit.
Museic Syndrome Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 Then you played it wrong. why am I not surprised you were the first to comment, in your own douchebag way? *maybe this was harsh*
Museic Syndrome Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 e|---------------------| B|---------------------| G|---------------------| D|---------------------| A|---------------------3h4h5-| D|-0---3---5h6h7- e||--------------------------|| B||o-------------------------| G||--------------------------| D||--------------------------| A||o-5--4--3--0--------------| D||-----------------6--5--3--0-- How is this not the same (when reversed) ? I am not talking about the way it's played, the rhythm etc. but just the notes.

Uprising's A is tuned to G while Micro Cuts stays in standard Drop D. The notes are the same, yes, but that doesn't make the two riffs identical.
kueller Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 *maybe this was harsh* No I'm sure he's been called worse.

I'm pretty certain the A is not downtuned, but regardless, the riffs are quite different.
kueller Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 I'm pretty certain the A is not downtuned, but regardless, the riffs are quite different. It is downtuned, but's it's not really that significant unless looking at tabs. I've never done that when I play the song though.
Bumpypotato Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 It is downtuned, but's it's not really that significant unless looking at tabs. I've never done that when I play the song though. I've always played it as a simple drop D, because of the chords, but oh we'll. Either way, despite having similar notes, the two riffs are quite different.
Museic Syndrome Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 I still claim that the notes used are identical, regardless of the riffs being different, but whatevz.
Seaking Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 I still claim that the notes used are identical, regardless of the riffs being different, but whatevz. I still claim that if I try hard enough I will be able to fly. Gravity says otherwise, but whatevz.
