  1. I have never done this before but I wanted to try my hand at doing a mashup between Psycho and Uprising. I am not sure the best way to usually post these things but HERE is a link to the song. Since I am new I would appreciate advice, criticism, and of course to know what you think of it.
  2. Filmed for ONE's Agit8 campaign... Source: http://muse.mu/news,watch-uprising-live-from-porto_1564.htm
  3. Made a little video today about Muse and their important and very interesting choice of lyrics. I have high respect for this band for being one of very few to stand against the brainwashing our media today is exposing us to. The video contains three of their songs, that I consider very important to pay attention to. I added the lyrics to the video to make sure that it is clear what they are conveying to all of us. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Q7Uo8Vjm4Y I hope you all will like it. Aside of that, all I can say is keep up the awesome job, Muse! It is so refreshing to see intelligent music with some thought added to it, instead of all this shallow Gaga/Beyonce/Kesha etc crap they push into our faces everyday.
  4. Hi, been registered for a while here, but this is my first post I think. Has anyone noticed similarities between the first part of the solo part in Uprising and the end riff of Micro Cuts? The Uprising solo seems to basically be the Micro Cuts end riff but backwards. Mystery ?
  5. He calls Uprising (Surprising) and sometimes he calls it (The New Song), because he started to listen to it after I Belong to You! He calls I Belong to You (hmmm louder) because every time he asks me to make it louder, and hmmm is for mmmm mmmmm from the song. I'm thinking about posting a video of him singing them... do you think it's a good idea? Can I post it on this site? It's best when he sings them on his own while he thinks no one is watching, and when he runs around holding a small red toy guitar while singing Uprising! But once he sees the camera he stops singing or starts making silly words because he's shy.
  6. Hi All, I have searched to see if there was a thread regarding the uprising taking place in Spain, and could not find one, so here we go. The Spanish online movement Democracia Real Ya [DRY] (Real Democracy Now) demands the human right to live with dignity and the end of political and economic corporatism. We convened a national protest for May 15th in many cities in Spain, and since then those who can have pacifically camped and are sleeping in front of their city boroughs and monuments in their cities as a peaceful way of protesting against governmental and economical abuse. Many other citizens who are unable to leave their responsibilities, but whom still support and identify themselves with this cause, and feel at heart with the people who has peacefully taken the streets, provides support to those camping outside by providing food, water and more (some autonomous workers and private companies have even provided toilets, electricity, internet... It´s a true brotherhood out there. You can follow the demonstrations on Twitter under the account @democraciareal. We insist there are people of all ages involved, and not only youngsters. Look for the images in the internet and see for yourself... We invite all MUSE funs to join us and demonstrate how strongly you feel about the need to end with corruption and abuse in our gobernments, not only for Spain, but for the whole world. And the way you can do this is by simply showing up at one of the camps people around the world have created out of their free will. Here is a map of the world showing where you can attend: http://www.ikimap.com/map/2CYF And here you can read our Manifesto: http://www.democraciarealya.es/?page_id=814 Youtube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/democraciarealya And if you wish to start with your friends in your own city, you are most welcome. The websites seem to be unstable ever since the movement jumped in the media (boycotted? who knows), so please, have patience. WE WILL BE VICTORIOUS SO COME ON!!!

  10. I recently created a remix of the Music Video of Uprising by Muse, using videos I found on YouTube and videoed myself. Total creation time was about 5 hours, and I've finally managed to get it onto YouTube! I had to change the key, so it's out by half a semitone, and there is one mistake at about 2:24 where I got the lyrics wrong! It says 'bad times coming to an end' instead of 'their times coming to an end' but since I made the video I lost all the data on my computer and can't edit the video! See what you think, hope you like it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxShZB6Osy0 Please comment or give thumbs up if you like it! I've never done anything like this before (and when I was making it I was supposed to be revising for A-Levels) so be nice! Thanks for reading
  11. Check out a 20th Anniversary performance by the Johns Hopkins University Octopodes, the oldest A cappella group on the campus. Uprising by Muse was performed and I figured I'd share with the Muse community. Enjoy!

  14. I'm starting to think we should probably have a separate discussion thread for things relating to the tour where everyone can post and keep the actual tour date threads free for people who actually go to the gigs to discuss their gig only? I say this because, whilst I agree that the setlists are a bit sucky, I don't want to be a downer for anyone who actually enjoyed the gigs. Whine away.
  15. i wrote a little sci fi yarn based on the album... but it's aparently too long to post here. I have posted it on facebook though... I still think a rock opera based on the album could work! it would be awesome!!! if you wanna read the story look for me on facebook: kela nnarka francis it's in my notes called waking...
  16. I'm really interested in hearing other Muse fans' input here. I should start by saying I'm a big fan of Origin of Symmetry with Absolution at a close second, so Muse's epic songs and hard-rock jams are all very close to my heart. While of course it's too early to thoroughly judge the album, the previews iTunes now has to offer have given me grave concern that the band is headed in a direction completely opposite that of the OoS and Absolution days. When "United States of Eurasia" was released, I was satisfied with the song's grandeur and thundering harmonic minor runs. "Uprising," however, raised a flag. The originality and authentic Muse-ness felt absent, replaced by a baseline that was a cross between Marilyn Manson's "Beautiful People" and Battles' "Atlas." The synth melody felt like a weaker version of Billy Idol's "White Wedding," and the minimal guitar felt thrown in, a mere appeal to the rock and roll spirit that attracted fans like me in the first place. To be quite frank, the song felt empty, and entirely absent the heart and soul that the band seems to put into every song they release. "But that single is just a glimpse at the album," I told myself, "it's probably going to function like Starlight did in BHAR, as a device to draw in a wider consumer base." That was the rationalization I put into place, though I had a knawing at the back of my head at even a comparison to the album that I felt was a step in the wrong direction. Regardless, I held out hope, knowing (praying) that Muse would deliver. Then the iTunes samples came online. I don't believe I'm the first to say it, but I want to start a discourse on it among Muse fans: The Resistance isn't that good. From the 30 second samples, I drew a small list of grievances, after of course I had wiped the tears from my face: Where did the distortion from Chris's bass go? Why all the keyboard synth? What was wrong with piano? Where did the classical influences disappear to? Where is the fuzz factory, the rocking Manson sound? Where is the GUITAR for that matter? What is with this disco vibe? What is with this electronica vibe? Why has the political dissent encouragement in the lyrics been turned up to 11? And finally, WHERE IS THE MUSE I HAVE GROWN TO LOVE? Not here, I say. Not here. I will buy the Exogenesis Symphony, and that is probably all. Please let me know what you think.
