B1ack0ut Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 If you count them as romantic songs (which I'm not 100% sure they are), then Bliss. Failing that, Easily. Not many to choose from really.
Finn. Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 Knights of Cydonia, because the guy kills the evil sheriff and saves the blonde in the end.
arildsundby Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 (edited) EDIT: It's Madness of course... How could I forget it?! Edited July 18, 2015 by arildsundby
Aeterna Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 Starlight, followed by Undisclosed Desires and Neutron Star Collision. But if you mean the slow, romantic songs like Endlessly and Unintended, I'll say Falling Away with You is my favourite too.
Matt Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 Endlessly. I'm a probably in a small minority but I want that song to return at some point to the live shows
BigGeorge Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 Sing for Absolution(if you can call it romantic) followed by Aftermath.
serpentsatellite Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 Not really that many actual romantic songs, are there? Aftermath, for me.
Jobby Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 Aftermath. Sing for Absolution(if you can call it romantic) followed by Aftermath. Aftermath, for me.
serpentsatellite Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 tbf, it's really a choice between Aftermath, Madness, NSC and Unintended... so it's not a hard choice. I guess Endlessly would count; but it feels more wistful.
GarthMarenghi Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 tbf, it's really a choice between Aftermath, Madness, NSC and Unintended... so it's not a hard choice. I guess Endlessly would count; but it feels more wistful. All of those songs are better than aftermath
serpentsatellite Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 Endlessly is, I just don't know how traditionally "romantic" I feel it is. It seems like it's more a song about being somewhat afraid of how in love you are, like being consigned to the fact that you're going to get hurt.
GarthMarenghi Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 Depends on what the definition of romantic is I suppose, don't think Unintended and NSC are positive love songs either.
serpentsatellite Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 NSC at face value is super positive, it's just the situation surrounding it's writing that makes it sad. Unintended is romantic in a similar way to Aftermath and Madness, I guess; coming out of a bad situation into (hopefully) a good one. God, Muse's "romantic" songs are actually rather depressing...
Finn. Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 (edited) The saddest fact about Neutron Star Collision is how it was released for a Twilight movie, that made people hate it so much. Is an upbeat song, nothing stellar, but nothing wrong. People didn't make that fuss when Blackout was used for Southland Tales, for example, or Hysteria in Millions (Maybe because these are not bad movies?). Edited July 18, 2015 by Finn.
LewisF Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 Shine Acoustic above everything else. Oh yeah, I forgot about this one.
Jobby Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 Shine Acoustic above everything else. I'd say Shine's more of a break-up song if anything. Assuming we're going by lyrics anyway.
Johi36 Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 (edited) I'm surprised no one mentioned Invincible yet. I always interpreted it as a very romantic song - two people against the rest of the world. Edited July 18, 2015 by Johi36
diamond_writer Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Shine, always, but then blackout and then aftermath.
serpentsatellite Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Invincible didn't come to mind, although it is a positive song, I guess I don't find it that romantic, maybe? I like it much better than Aftermath, but find Aftermath way more romantic. I'm interested in hearing people's interpretations of why Shine is a romantic song.
