cheddatom
nice. What's the little outline details thing going around the fretboards and will it stay on?
Phill
fancy binding. you can get ones with little white layers within the black layers. what inlays are you going for ant? i think none looks good, but you've done some nice 12th fret ones! hooglebug
just my standard 12th fret one that was on the last tri-caster. and the white lines are called purfling. its little strips of fibre that go inside the binding

cheddatom
Is it actually ivory? I thought you couldn't buy that anymore?
hooglebug
its antique ivory piano keys. you can still buy it if its over 100 years old or something. then theres mammoth ivory, and vegetable ivory (tagua nuts) which i'll be using after my piano keys run out
cheddatom
interesting!!
matthijs
mmm that's a clever idea, those piano keys! And it looks absolutely amazing! also, have you decided on a finish yet? It would be nice to do an inverted colour theme on both guitars, making them inverted twins
hooglebug
these two are just going to be oiled natural finish. when i do a deco d & s they will be inverted - one will be white with black highlights, the other black with white highlights
hooglebug
have been a bit poorly and dealing with some things lately hence the lack of updates, but heres some pics. just got a bit more shaping on the bass sides of the bodies and then lots and lots of sanding

hooglebug
what a shit stupid day. got tuners and bridges today. i got the mini gotoh 510 tuners instead of the full size ones to save a bit of weight and also they will look less ungainly. turns out the mini 3 aside ones are not normal 3 aside ones with smaller buttons, but just the same as the six aside ones. they have different fixing methods, which means the top two wont fit next to each other. which is a bastard. luckily i have ONE set of the full size ones on another guitar, so taking one of those for each of these is the only way to fit. so there'll be five minis and one fullsize on each guitar (buttons will all be the same so it wont look THAT stupid). THEN i have a metal jig thing to do the string through holes. while screwing that to one of the bodies, the screw broke off. and it wasnt broken off above the wood. o no. it was broken off beneath the level of the wood. and would it drill out? would it bugger. so i had to route a little hole next to it to get the damn thing out and fill it with an off cut. october hates me. and i hate it

hooglebug
its not the size really. they're pretty much the same size i think, its just the fixing thats different. with the mini ones the screw is off to the side and with the full size ones its underneath in the middle
