I heard that they are going to be more than a "supporting" act, and they'll have at least one hour to play their music.. gosh I wish U2 hadn't chosen Snow Patrol to support them in Mexico :fear:

where did you see this? Been a U2 fan for 23 yrs and supporting bands play 30-45 min tops. Certainly would be nice tho..;)

I think people sometimes mistake 'mainstream' for meaning 'typical'.

While Muse are far from typical, they are mainstream because they are recognizable and played widely throughout the world.

I think they are mistaking mainstream for pop and sellout music.

I think that that is pretty much what he was saying. Implying that 'typical' was pop and sellout music.

mediocre at best

I'm sad to say that I fear I agree with you...I had really high hopes for The Resistance and was hoping for some incredibly ambitious OoS/Absolution style magnum opus, but the only part of the album which really had that ambition I've loved their previous albums for was Exogenesis...The rest of the album felt like it was missing something somehow, like it had been put together a bit too easily perhaps. A bit like "Okay, that song's good enough, move on", which might not be the case, but it feels more like that to me compared to say Origin, where almost every song is a classic, and then you have even more b-sides than album tracks and they're all just as stunning, or Absolution which found the perfect blend of the slower piano and orchestral tracks and the heavier guitar tracks. The last two albums I've been quite disappointed by the lack of really piano driven songs I think. I know there's Exo, USoE and Hoodoo, but they're not quite the same as Space Dementia, Apocalypse Please, Ruled By Secrecy, etc...And you can throw Butterflies, Blackout, Megalomania and so on in there too...BHAR, while not having any of those, still have a good mix of good rock songs I think, although Starlight and SBH maybe marked the start of the future style. TR just feels like it's lacking the emotion that I'd really felt before though, with the exception of maybe Redemption, which is the only new track I can think of that still captures it...Don't get me wrong, I still listen to the album and enjoy listening to some of the songs fairly often, but somethings missing from deep inside them if that makes sense...

http://www.musewiki.org/Gigs I can't have been the only to see this so far surely? :erm: (top 4 gigs) None of them have been confirmed however, but still interesting. Newspapers would surely only confirm something if they had sure information wouldn't they?

What newspaper has confirmed what?

Edit: oh I see some Russian newspaper has "announced" these gigs.

I guess it's wait and see if Kirkbot announces them on here.

LOL "supporting Lady Gaga"

In seriousness, I predict Outside Lands or Mile High Festival (the former is more likely). They're both the weekend after Lolla, so it'd make sense for them to do one then the other. Very typical of them, they don't really do one-offs...

Its never happening, but I keep having this recurring daydream that theyll add another leg around lolla but just hit up their favorites. In this daydream they play 3 texas dates again.

A boy can dream

I'm hoping if they don't do Outside Lands they play a "Casino de Paris" show before or after Lolla in NYC or something. Or a Lolla aftershow would be AMAZING.

Both Soundgarden (the top headliner) and Phoenix did aftershows. The Strokes did one at ACL... Muse should totally do one. :D I would possibly skip a whole day to camp for barrier for it depending.

Just found out Muse are strongly rumoured for Reading this year :D

:yesey: Ticket already bought

Have booked accommodation for both Reading and Leeds just in case.

Haven't got tix yet though. Was a bit skint when they were on sale. Will have to wait until the next batch. That or buy it 2nd hand when I've got the cash:(

Matt said the new album will be like showbiz and origin of symmetry and origin of symmetry will be the last thing they will have done at reading and leeds so there is a lot of hope for the new album i think =D

Did they?

Last I heard is that it would be stripped down, now they're claiming softer rock.

I think you are taking the "back to the basics" quotes a bit too far.

well I've heard him say the next album will be very much like our first I can understand what you're all saying but should give them a chance tbh

Please show me that quote.

Give them a chance at what exactly? And also "the new album will be like showbiz and origin of symmetry" and " the next album will be very much like our first". Which one is it? :p

You've been a member of these forums for how long and now you're trying to tell US what they have and haven't said?

Being a dick and all, joining a forum and then trying to tell the regulars there that they're wrong isn't exactly a good first impression and, usually, you're the one that's wrong.
