Even the PIB and Bliss clips though š Granted, this is the first time Iāve had an album Iāve loved and listened to god knows how many times for years be remastered so maybe Iām extra picky just ācos of what Iām used to (and Origin was nigh perfect already imo). Idk, weāll see V soon I guess. Iām not gonna get to it until Iāve spooled through the interview and all the goodies in the book but at least Iāll have all weekend :ā)
-
Hmmm, tbh listening to the previews so far Iām kinda mixed on the new sound of the songs. Granted, theyāre only short YT videos and Iāve not listened to them with anything decent so Iām not judging heavily at all. Sounds a bit flat to me so far though, the guitars in particular sound a lot softer.
-
Itās finally streaming on New Yearās Day at 1:30am on some German TV channel called 3sat š if ya wanna try and catch or be sensible and wait for the (hopefully) inevitable rip
-
Nah, the opposite if anything - that theyāre done until the next album cycle, nice long break etc. Any crew/management I follow all seem to have started focusing on other things as well, which obvs goes along with that. In theory, they wouldnāt need much in the way of crew for a one gig special but Iām v doubtful.

If the NA demos are remastered, PIBās gonna be immense A proper studio version of that alt Recess should be feckinā mean as well

Iāve not stopped thinking about it š glad weāre so close now, a small tourās out of the question Iām p sure but a very tiny part of me hopes some mad, teeny one-off show is still plausible What are yāall looking forward to most? For me itās stuff like Cave, Sunburn, MM and maybe Hate This where you can tell thereās a lotta smothered details in the mix. Space Dementia could sound interesting as well, and Iām excited to hear them talk in-depth about that time in the interview.
-
Ah thatās a bit of a shame, one of the best bits of Bliss live for me is being able to go mad and lose yourself with the people around you. Having Showbiz dangled in front of you would also not be the ideal way to experience it š (though Bliss is the better song imo) The falsetto is pretty pale in comparison to its younger days anyhow, I think Mattās best just singing the last chorus normally nowadays.

Everything youād hoped? Criminal to wait 10 years for such a signature live song (rare as it is over yonder).

Spiral Static (big time) and Unintended are new features in my list for this. SS is one of those that Iāve just casually slept on for a decade before realise āoh shit itās actually maybe one of their best songsā. Unintended also maybe gets written off a bit ācos itās old and a really conventional ballad but the sentiment and vocals are gorgeous.

My thoughts since Knights finished on the 15th of September š Feel sadder about leaving this era than the others Iāve been around for, ludicrously strict sets aside. I like that weāve not had any real hints for their next direction yet though, would love it to stay that way right up until the first single.

Lovely send off from Matt: āPerforming on stage isnāt just being in the now, itās also my childhood dream visualised into reality and my life flashing before my eyes in old age, all transcending time and converging into the present moment, to the most important thing, to connect with you, you wonderful people. Iām so lucky to have shared so much with so many.ā ā¤ļø So thatās it I guess...into the lonely void of silence while we wait for the next LP build up. Aside from that Global Citizen gig (which Iāll try and get to), wonder if theyāll maybe do stuff like Fuji Rock and Grass Is Greener to catch up with Japan and Australia as well.
-
Had a feeling it might get developed into a full song for a while now, not sure why. Could just see Matt go from initially messing about with it to something clicking and him increasingly enjoying it, trying to get the band/fans involved etc. My only thing is itās a bit Psycho/Uprising but hopefully theyād try and do something different with it if they do flesh it out.

The one and only optimistic Muse discussion thread (hopefully)
Jobby replied to Claudia O's topic in Other Muse Topics
Mentioned it a couple of times this year but this weekend has officially been the 10 year mark for me as a fan Feels strange, like itās not a huge number but feels aaages ācos of how much has happened. I wonāt write some big soppy post but Iām just really thankful I found this band during their pomp and the fanbase has been a joy to be part of. Finding them at 13 means they shaped a huge part of me growing up until now, genuinely canāt imagine how different Iād be otherwise. Itās given me most of my favourite memories - my first gig, favourite album in full, SBE, the Psycho Tour, semi meeting the band, album build-ups/leaks, the O2 Assassin saga, camping outside venues and meeting all the different fans with their own stories, setlists/picks/drumsticks - that I think about fondly almost daily So hopefully they keep going for a good while yet ācos if they can squeeze all that into 10 years, Iām only excited for the next 10. -
Honestly god knows, itās bizarre imo. I think Live At Rome sold pretty poorly, wonder if thatās contributed to Matt thinking literally 11 people on planet earth buy DVDs. Tbf they did say they were gonna do it a fair while ago, sometime around when the gigs were announced iirc. Most places also donāt really give it a good enough reaction to warrant doing it regularly.
-
The fact Mattās suggested they resort to a gofundme for a Drones DVD kinda smells like theyāre done with that format to me. Also if they play Blockades at even one of these last 5 gigs, I will literally take it as a personal slight and offer Matt out.
-
BITM would be a brill thread to follow More v strange fusion stuff. Take the āunafraid to be ridiculousā mindset as usual but apply it to the nth degree to some more unconventional song structures and genre combinations.
-
I think Dom said a little while ago they were already thinking about the next album, doubt weāll see it ātil 2021 like (š). At this point, I honestly donāt know. Said in another thread that Iād find it refreshing if Matt went back to the writing style/influences he used for Showbiz but thatās just not gonna happen if weāre honest. We had a pretty focused rock album in Drones and pop/electronic experimentation on ST so theyāve sort of covered their main bases well recently. They could do some more orchestral stuff but thatās always been their least interesting element imo. If there was an area of their sound they could realistically explore more, Iād be interested in them maybe delving into the prog a bit deeper.

Share your controversial Muse opinions II - More Radiohead talk
Jobby replied to superimposition's topic in Other Muse Topics
I think thatās more the general consensus than controversial š I havenāt watched any fan vids tbf, saw enough actual gigs, but I kinda know what you mean. It wasnāt easy having a couple or few in a row that felt exactly the same. There were a few that stood out though, Manchester in particular. Matt seemed to be having a lot of fun there to me.- 8,036 replies

Showbiz, as an album/era ā¤ļø I donāt dig any of this āthey sound young/naive/still developingā blah blah. Itās fucking incredible. Read through a list of songs from that era and itās literally hit after hit, maybe 2 or 3 rusty tunes in the whole bunch. An indie garage/rock and blues/jazz mix fuelled by raw emotion. 3rd best album. Dying to hear it remastered. Sorta think itād be really refreshing if Matt attempted that style of writing again for a record - less hook/riff based with big themes, more focused on feeling and jazz/blues influences. Go back to ripping off Jeff Buckley basically, itās been long enough, I promise no oneāll mind.

Something Iāve dreamed of for yeeears. Partly just because I love that name for some reason but itās also the perfect middle ground of ācommon knowledge but probs not for casual listenersā to suit a secret gig/tour pseudonym. Iād almost love it more if they didnāt even announce it, just start seeing the name pop up on club events schedules and maybe make a social media account for hints. Weād all have to search early venues from their career to piece together a tour... But none of itās happening so letās all break it off now while our hearts donāt mind too much š

Theyāve not been to Japan either tbf š¤·š¼āāļø Could do Trnsmt I guess. Festivals before gearing up for a new album arenāt unheard of. Or itās the last time Muse will perform for a while... ...but Rocket Baby Dolls are just about to start rehearsing

Canāt remember the exact quote now but it was something like āitās good to be back home, itās gonna be our last time here for quite a whileā. Personally got the impression itās the āend of an era, time to work on a new albumā kind of āquite a whileā. Boring Roadie also tweeted not long ago about having nowt on next year. Could do some sparing festivals or dates for places they missed but I think thatās what weāre looking at š they havenāt really stopped since early 2015 though tbf to them

Apparently they were handing out a lot of London night 2 sets at Birmingham for some reason, guessing thatās where the confusion of TV being on some came from. Iām just relieved as anything they didnāt play Blockades š
