  1. *Assassin @ The London O2 on the 14th of April 2016 (also I have been v stressed lately so it’s possible I may sound more passionate than I normally would be)
  2. You could say it to yourself in your room, it’s still acting entitled and you’re posting it on the band’s only official forum at the end of the day. Muse have hinted/promised at a lot of things that haven’t come to pass or have taken a long time to come to fruition. A lot of it gets forgotten because that’s life and it’s very rarely a big deal. There was an initial demand for Zepp to be released because it meant pro-shots of modern Agitated, Yes Please, Futurism, Fury in its original key and Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, combined with the fact that it was a very unique show because of all these happening at once and the 2nd encore. In the years since, we’ve had all that (bar Fury) and more from other shows, plus Futurism. So, if we’re not missing out on anything, what’s even the issue? You’re not paying for anything, they’re just putting a special performance of a few songs out to keep fans entertained. They don’t owe it to us, nor do any of the other artists or people trying to keep people entertained atm, so why feel the need to point the finger and say “pfff, well x person did more”? Of all the times and cases, this really isn’t the one to whinge about. Full gigs or no, it’s more unique/special than the Radiohead content you reckon they should be aspiring to anyway. It’s literally the only thing left from that gig that we haven’t seen anything like before. If you’re yearning for Micro Cuts, Dead Star et al, Youtube’s a click away.
  3. Genuinely kinda staggered by the sense of entitlement. Don’t really know where to begin. It’s literally 4 free videos of a silly performance that they’re putting out as a one-off because people have been asking to see it for 7 years and they thought it’d lift spirits a bit. If someone you knew made you a small gift during a rough time, would you also pick that apart because you wanted something bigger or something specific and pass it off as “sharing my opinion that I don’t like what you’re doing”? Don’t really see what OOM has to do with anything at all either? It’s the only thing like that that they’ve ever done and has a hell of a lot in it so...yeah, it’s not gonna be cheap, idk what to tell ya. It’s also not exactly extortionate. They’re hardly the first to do limited edition collector’s items either, and they did put out more when it initially sold out. You suggest putting out another version for £60 but that’s still massively expensive for a music release, so you’d effectively be asking “would you like to pay the high price or the even higher price?” Sure, you can wish Muse put out more gig content than Christmas presents and concert films every few years. Most of us have asked for that at some point in the past. But, in reality, they put out about as much as (if not more) than the average band. But this really shouldn’t be the thing you choose to voice that gripe over. Radiohead are one band, they do a lot of things other band’s don’t and they’ve also literally only just started this public library thing. The gigs they’ve streamed on YT, tmk, are also pretty standard gigs. The board’s dead anyway, at least until the next major release (hopefully). Stuff like this ain’t gonna revive it. For the record, I don’t even wanna watch the footage myself, but moaning that it’s not good enough for one reason or another is just unnecessarily wanky right now imo.
  4. Yes, at the time. Since then, we’ve had Futurism and pro-shots of all of those songs from other shows anyway. So they’re giving us literally the only element of that gig that we haven’t seen before, and the most ‘light-hearted’ part (to go along with the making-of) which they probably thought people might appreciate atm. Sure, full gigs of anything would be nice. I’d happily keep a full catalogue of every gig they’ve ever played. But it’s peak ungrateful Muse fans to moan at them for giving us pro-shots of something that’s been in-demand for 7 years purely to throw people a bone during a shite global situation because “well, other bands have streamed full gigs”. They weren’t obligated to put anything out.
  5. ...did I slip into a coma and miss CTMEOY becoming ‘relatively irrelevant’ and ‘heavily setlisted’? The 2nd encore is by far the most unique part of that gig. We have Futurism, so what else are we really missing out on?
  6. Anyone have any clue what model this white Marshall is on the left side of Dom’s riser? Tried searching online and there’s zip on Musewiki for all I can tell. Custom, maybe?
  7. Absolutely massive bump. Not the whole gig but more songs being released this week. ......aaaand there’s still a part of this that hurts me so this actually isn’t a wholly positive present on the personal front tbh. Ya had to be there, I guess.
  8. FAWY was one of the more requested live songs from people like us before...T2L I think? Just below stuff like MM, CE, Dead Star, etc. I was shocked when it wasn’t voted in at SBE ‘cos of how much people went on about getting it played live for years. Think the main drive of that was it being the only album track that’d never been played though, as opposed to quality, so maybe as we got more and more of those (Cross-Pol, Redemption for a time, Big Freeze, Aftermath) it lost its significance.
  9. I guess it’s time they go back towards a more serious (by their standards) album, since that seems to be a rough pattern they follow. No idea what sonic landscape that’ll take the form of though and I’ve given up wanting/guessing tbh 😂 Would quite like some more ‘weird’ stuff, whatever they go for. More experimental combinations of genres/instruments/tones that they’re not used to. Always refreshing to hear them strip things back slightly and make a song or two that’s less ‘busy’ as well, whatever the genre.
  10. Sad as it sounds, I genuinely do not know what I’d do with myself if Muse went on a hiatus like that. Maybe listen to some other bands, find new hobbies and save up enough money to move out. Christ, I’d be lost. Don’t think it’d have much of an effect on the ‘quality’ though anyway. They pick whatever vibe they’re feeling and put it out. You’ve just gotta hope it’s a vibe that you’re into. Course, you can like the vibe but not how they tap into it but I don’t think that’s ever a product of rushing themselves. wtf
  11. Yeah I’ve backed that idea before but I’m struggling so much atm after just 6 months without them sooooo nah, not for me thx. So starved of Muse stuff but constantly have them on the brain atm 😩 even if we just had announcements about Global Goal or RAH to look forward to but nope...tumbleweeds atm
  12. TAB would be the most likely to me. Other than that, maybe The Void or even PIB if they feel that’s been on more than enough films at this point.
  13. I think it’s a combo of this and the tour tbf. There just wasn’t really owt to talk about after a while of every show being the same and with people also having to get used to the new software (which I’ve not been keen on either but maybe I’m grumpy and don’t like change), being logged out every week, etc. there just ain’t much incentive to drop in. People had been noticeably dropping off since Drones but that one-two punch was hella effective. Part of me wonders if it’s just the way online music discussion is going - why have one account per band forum rather than just an account on a mass site (e.g. reddit) where you can flick between whatever interest you want. This board did well to last so long imo, don’t have much experience with others but, from what I’d see, other band forums would be a lot less active. Be interesting to see what pickup there is when the next album’s buildup hits, or if it’ll just be too late. I suspect the latter though tbh 💔 might have to actually nut up and get a reddit account after years of slagging it off fml
  14. ffs alllllways awkward aren’t they ”more announcements in the coming weeks” hmm some speculation it might be The Who though, which make sense tbf but why not announce that straight away?
  15. “we might have two shows later this year” “might be one other thing we’re doing at the RAH” but then I’ve just realised he also says they ‘might’ do Global Citizen so I think he’s just using it flippantly 😅 we’ll see today
  16. Well plus there’s the extra link of that original Meg performance being for the TCT too. Would reeeeally love some kinda nod to OOM, obviously...a Showbiz b-side, demo PIB...but not gonna get my hopes up. 😁😁😁😁😁 that said, coulda done with an even longer break before bloody queueing up at 5am again lmao Edit: though, then again, depending when that interview was filmed (seemed v recent), why would Matt only say it was a maybe if they’re literally about to be announced? 🤔 guess we’ll find out tomoz, if it’s not TCT then I’ll be vvvv curious
  17. So we’ve had our first crumb of news! ...buuuut unfortunately it makes this thread likely redundant for a good while since work on LP9 is apparently gonna start towards the end of this year, meaning we probably won’t see a release until mid-late 2021 💔 Anyway, let’s get this in early to quell the absolute torrent of posts I’m sure are just around the corner. Other than that, seems like we’ll be returning to the traditional album release format as opposed to the staggered one for ST but that’s all we know so far. No hint of a direction yet. I’m excited at least 😁
  18. Yeah, March/April is usually when the TCT shows happen. Would make sense I guess, been a long time since they’ve done it and a charity show is worth stepping off a break for as a one off. Doubt they’ll do a ton of rehearsal for it though so wouldn’t expect much special. Maybe organ Meg as a throwback at most.
  19. 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 Teenage Cancer Trust 20th? (also v cute about the 2nd baby)
  20. Ikwym and thought that myself but when I say ‘good enough to make the album’, I sorta mean ‘an’ album, if that makes sense. B-sides have a kinda distinct ‘yeah we’re kinda throwaway/inconsequential’ vibe to me, even if they’re not bad. So while Showbiz isn’t as strong as Origin, I’d still only take the same few of its b-sides on the album ‘cos they’re the only ones that feel like they should be on an album.
  21. HCM and Futurism are fantastic, true, forgot. Nature_1 pretty average though, and that’s still only a really select few you could argue are good enough to make the album, compared to Showbiz’s long list. The rest aren’t bad for the most part, just definitely ‘b-sides’ if that makes sense.
  22. OOS is a fantastic album but has pretty average b-sides tbh. Shine, I love. The Gallery, Bedroom Acoustics, Shrinking Universe and Map Of Your Head are good/decent. CTMEOY maybe? But Host, Spiral Static, Twin, Recess, Con-Science, Do We Need This and Forced In are all “how did this not make the album” tier. Coma, Agitated, Nishe, Minimum and Yes Please aren’t a bad second rung either. Abso and Black Holes have a couple of great ones but obvs very little.
  23. Mad how superior Showbiz’s b-sides are to any other album era. It’s already my 3rd fave album without some of these on it, too much greatness to fit on one record. Literally all of ‘em would be my answer. Would be such a fun time to see a Showbiz themed gig, we’ve already had an Origin one.
