  1. Did you mean Spiral Static or Con-Science? The former has been played live at least. But yeah, I'm pretty sure people were complaining when they "only" got Dead Star as biggest rarity a while back. Or Citizen Erased is a good example.
  2. Definitely. I think Muse lack energy overall these days, and watching them has become quite a drag for me. Which is why I won't go see them (Unless it's a festival I'm attending, or they literally promise something special in Sweden) You're not so stupid that you think they simply complain because Muse played a great set. Come on now, don't try to simplify the issue just so you can make the other side look stupid.
  3. That literally happens all the time though. Dee is an example. Fabri is another. Of course they don't speak for the entire board though. But I regularly see people spew "uuugh fuck Starlight" every time it is played. I mean it's fair to dislike a song, but it's very clear that some people complain every time Muse play their hits, and it's just like...deal with it or move on.
  4. Here are some random facts: 1. The time between Showbiz and BH&R is the same as between The Resistance and today. 2. The time that had passed from Muse's Glasto gig and when you signed up to this forum is the same as the time between the release of T2L and today.
  5. Every time people complain that Muse play Starlight, TIRO, Madness and the like? No matter what the setlist looks like, people always complain when the hits show up. Even at Zepp people were going "oh here we go" when the encore came. Anyway, loved the smoke here: Should probably be able to create some really cool wind effects during energetic parts of the gig. Will look really cool on video.
  6. But to take this product-viewpoint a bit further, it's one thing to say "Man this Dell computer is shit, I am not a satisfied customer", and a completely different to complain about Dell products for years and yet keep buying them. Then I think it's fair to ask "Hey, why are you still buying their crap?"
  7. I haven't seen them since 2009 because they cancelled three gigs in a row that I had tickets for Not gonna pay for another ticket unless they somehow manage to make an amazing album, which isn't likely.
  8. Yeah I think I agree tbh. Now that I'm looking at the setlist, I think Matt was doing quite well with Micro Cuts considering how late it was played. I wonder what KoC sounded like after that though...
  9. 37-38 IS when the voice generally tends to begin deteriorating. Nothing weird about it. And the fact that he's not singing one of his highest notes ever recorded is pretty understandable, especially when he didn't even sing it on a regular basis back in 2002. And no, we don't wonder, because Matt has already explained why.
  10. Honestly the quality kinda hides how bad he really sounds at times. Like here and here He's rough as hell. And he also "misses" the cue for every climb up to the G5 in the chorus because he needs extra time to breathe. But of course this is to be expected when you're singing the hardest falsetto song you have, 15 years after its release.
  11. Where are you getting that he was expecting a great reaction from though? What he said was "Got 3 festivals in Switzlerland, was thinking to make me different", and since it was a smaller gig he thought there was a better chance of getting a good reaction. I'd say it's a pretty fair assumption to make. No matter if the gig was announced as something special or not, the people who get there first are generally the biggest fans (assuming they're not waiting for someone who's on after Muse), and if there are only a certain number of people allowed in, I'm sure the hardcore fans around are more determined to get in. And like the person below me said, maybe people just enjoyed the gig in a different way. I mean, it's not the first time we've talked about how Muse shouldn't judge song reactions simply based on how many people are jumping around. Sometimes you just want to stand and enjoy it. Mostly applies to slower songs, but still. So you can't feel superior to those from your own country? In my experience that is the most common kind of superiority. "My generation sucks", "Everyone here is an idiot" etc,
  12. Once again, no it doesn't. 1. We all know small gigs regularly get better reactions. Don't deny it simply because we want to prove Matt wrong. 2. This was a festival gig. 3. Muse can't possibly know what the crowd reaction at every gig is gonna be. But generally, smaller gigs get better audiences, that's just the way many people (including Matt) interpret it. What he said was "I think club setting best?", which is totally true.
  13. I will say this though: If Muse keep this up, I hope that they will be happy when they end up being forced to play hits only because they alienate the people who like other sides of Muse than just the pop. They are making a conscious decision, and that decision is to earn more money by being as easy on the ears as possible.
  14. To be fair, Muse aren't really in on what groups of fans think of songs. They might feel like "okay Bliss doesn't feel good today. But PIB is a fan favourite (from the favourite album of the hardcore fans), so that can work instead". Now of course there are instances when songs are just dropped and not replaced, but generally I do think that Muse care about what the hardcore fans want, it's just that they think that playing PIB, Stockholm Syndrome and some other heavy song should be enough. But then it becomes an issue of when they are played and how they are spread out, which is a fair point but not really reasonable to demand. Especially not since everyone is different. Personally I prefer a heavy start followed by a breather and then some singalong pop songs. But yeah, the US simply got fucked because Matt was afraid of playing anything that wasn't a single.
