I'm interviewing Muse. What questions does everyone want answered?
Hat replied to LucasWay89's topic in Other Muse Topics
My guess is the interview didn't happen and he's too ashamed to say. inb4 he posts it within five minutes. -
Why do people still consider setlist.fm in any way trustworthy?

That's honestly how I feel the audience at most gigs would look if it weren't for the 360 stage.

Well that's a bit redudant though Two great songs are obviously better than one. But I'm saying Dead Cuts is no better than Dead Star because it's just one great riff replacing...another great riff.

Oh you meant specifically Glastonbury 2010? Don't think it was played there actually.

Which jam are you referring to? 2010 was the time of Helsinki Jam.

I'd prefer if they simply played the riff afterwards, because I like the Dead Star solo and riff. Feels like I lose as much as I gain when they replace it with that riff.

It's quite common knowledge, at least on here.

Sounds like someone who also think Radiohead went a bit too far on OK Computer, and that the rest is unlistenable crap. Oh wait, that sounds like Matt.

I don't find it that interesting to analyse music because it usually just ends up either being a bunch of people doing monologues, people saying "I like this" "Well I like that", or simply people being elitists about what other people should and shouldn't like. I rarely come across interesting music discussions that aren't based around people trying to imply that they know better than others. You can easily spot these people through their vocabulary. "Real", "True", "Deep", or talking about what you need in order to appreciate the music. Usually intellect and expertise. This is why I either don't bother, or just spend my time arguing with people who think that they can objectively view art, and try to pass off their opinions as more valuable than others'.

What possibility? Based on the fact that they confirmed they won't play a song that has been dead for over 10 years and don't current like the sound of the other? Just because the songs have been mentioned lately that doesn't mean it's any more possible than it's been for any of the previous tours where it hasn't happened.

I don't get why you guys are comparing with live performances of B&H. If it was played, it was obviously because they were happy with it. We've already been given hints that they're pretty quick to say "nah, not tonight" if a song feels wrong to them during sound check. It's not a huge decision like "This song doesn't work anymore", they just haven't managed to get it to where they like when trying it out.

We're used to a certain standard of flawlessness when it comes to Muse, so it's interesting to hear about how certain songs are ditched because they sound like shit. It's not that weird though, especially these days when the energy levels from the band aren't what they used to be.

Would anyone WANT them to play it though? Besides people who love to torture themselves by collecting live songs.

I was basing that on the last time we had this argument, but I had forgotten that we actually moved past the octave thing But yeah I agree that it's edited somehow. So...basically we're in agreement. Go figure I manage to argue about it anyway
-
Which video are you using for reference? I still don't believe for a second that the Bliss note has been raised an entire octave. Since you're already messing with the software, you're welcome to show me how you would do it and still have it sound remotely believable. You can of course use an acapella track.
-
They haven't been altering anything live from what I know, but they've been overdubbing Matt's vocals to make up for the fact that he's singing it like half an octave lower than the original in Take a Bow. It's just the last note we're talking about. I remember it being a big deal when the proshot was released back in...2011? Haven't listened to it since then though.
-
Yeah, check my edit. These days they've even started doing it live at the gigs.
-
Actually they had that going on already back in 2007 with HAARP (TaB). But not as obvious as the Survival one though. They also pitch corrected Matt in the 2008 performance of Megalomania.
-
A connoisseur probably wouldn't listen to Muse at all though.
