  1. Personally, I don't think Muse need to sound like someone else. That's when they're at their worst. And Muse's music with the sound of NIN would sound ridiculous imo. Celldweller is the master of electronic rock production imo. As a songwriter he's a bit too cliché but his sounds, man. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IbBBRkatWdQ For when Muse really needed that gritty, heavy production which never showed up in the finished product (Unsustainable, I'm looking at you) No worries bro Not familiar with him but from a quick google my first reaction is: Do Muse really need to be more 80s?
  2. Wait, you honestly believe that there is a pattern of bands who reach a peak in their 40s? And no one asked you to write an article. Trying to make it look like people are being unreasonable doesn't work when all you really needed to do was namedrop some bands. And you do realise that this is all opinions, so it's not something you can just "search"? To some people, your favourite Nightwish album is their least favourite. Then we have another example just above where people can't agree on Metallica's albums. It's not like I can search to find when Muse released their best album. Do you honestly dislike boards because you're called out on nonsense? Well...I guess it's not that surprising.
  3. Death Magnetic was released when the members of Metallica had just reached their 40s. And then there's The King of Limbs...but that feels almost rude to mention after Death Magnetic. It wasn't THAT bad.
  4. I'd say Mercy is their worst pop song ever. Forgettable piano melody, a verse that switches between decent and annoying, and then the mother of worthless choruses. Honestly the worst chorus they've ever done, with nothing going on in terms of melody. I mean some people complained because the bridge to Dead Inside was the infamous 4 chord sequence, but that Mercy chorus is just dull, mediocre and cliche on a level that Muse have never reached before. Apparently I'm even passionate about my dislike for that song, which says a lot becaus so rarely find any music outright bad.
  5. Muse are best when they take influences into their own sound, and that's what Micro Cuts and the likes are, Muse being influenced by metal. It's when they try to "do" genres that they become a parody.
  6. Oh yeah that video was totally too metal for Muse. But as I've said too many times by now, Celldweller (Klayton) would be a great producer if Muse wanted to make an album of electronic rock.
  7. Doesn't make sense to me. I mean, releasing individual songs means every song will basically be in the spotlight. The thing about albums is that it allows some tracks to be a bit in the background, and those are the songs that some fans love the most. Songs like Micro Cuts, HTAILY and City of Delusion would probably never have been released individually. It's making an entire album that allows for more elaboration. I mean, that's kind of what the word means. You can't elaborate if you're only making one song.
  8. I could go for like a year or two where they just release a few songs every now and then, and get back to touring after a long break. I think they need it, and the audience needs it as well. (No offense to those who haven't been able to see Muse)
