Neil.
had to delete toms post there. Discussion of ZVex clones aren't allowed. It's just cos Zack Vex had issues with the board before, and we don't really want the board getting in trouble again.

Neil.
lets see if people know what pedal this is going on : Top surface image edit: yeah tom it's purely because of Zack Vex giving out. no problem with other clones, just not zvex stuff.
Neil.
Hmmm.... I just noticed something.... The old 1969 Boutique Version of the Fuzz Face has 4 Knobs: Volume, Fuzz, Bias and Contour. It has a trimmer pot inside, which controls the bias of the other PNP. That's all fine. As far as i know, on the Fuzz FACTORY, two of the dials are (i think comp and drive, but i'm probably wrong) control transistor bias. So this made me wonder, how similar is a fuzz factory and a fuzz face?

On Freestompboxes I read that a Fuzz Factory is just a fuzz face with potentiometers replacing some resistors and a booster before it.
Neil.
ugh..... UGH!!!!! oh well, i'll still build it. Maybe it'll be a little less.... insane.... than a fuzz factory.
tomrulez
Why not do a Colorsound One Knob Fuzz instead, apparently is one of the best fuzzes out there and it's a nice and simple build.
Neil.
i've ordered the parts for the fuzz face, and i've a tonne of salvaged transistors i want to try out. stripped out an old toshiba radio, got about 15 transistors out of it, and a tonne of other things from resonators to electrolytes, and even, what look like, a few chokes. the_man361
made a small 9v battery powered flashlight today to be able to see the back of my rack easier... it uses 3 ultra bright LED's in series with a 9v battery, currently looking for a decent thing to mount it in, too loose right now. very bright though, two white LED's and one green. Neil.
how about a small ABS box? edit: btw, if you diffused the led's you'd probably be able to light up the whole rack. That + switch + ABS box and put it at the bottom of your rack?
cheddatom
I love it when I see Unworthy Mods, and most recent poster is Trademark I have a light in my rack that's basically a few LEDs hooked up to a 9v DC PSU.

tomrulez
I think changing the name would be a good idea though, (un)worthy mods is a bit confusing and there are more worthy mods in here than unworthy ones.
cheddatom
yeh, it's part of the general clean up though. If you look at the suggested list of stickies in the KnT suggestions thread, it's a good list, and we could add to it "electronics" or "gear modification" although I don't think that's specific enough as people will talk about building pedals and upgrading tuners in the same thread. Everyone should have a look at that list and add what they think is appropriate.
Neil.
i'm going to have a good look at the suggestions thread shortly.
