pianohero Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Aside from the lyrical content and musicianship that makes Muse awesome, as a piano player, I loved the playability of their tunes (by playability I mean that they sounded awesome being played on the piano). Examples of things that sound great when I play them, Exogenesis (all three parts), take a bow (although it has no piano, the classical arrangement lends itself awesomely to the piano), the French part of "I belong to you", etc. there aren't any real piano, or classical songs here (one song has a piano, but it's showtunes-y). The closest thing to a pianoy song is Animals. Why? The piano and the classical made Muse unique. Great songs though, for example, I love "save me", but it would be terribly boring to play on the piano.

Super Sammy! Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Not to mention that all of Explorers and Isolated System are on piano.
Dee3Dee Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Where's the piano and the classical? It's all in Prelude. Put it on repeat and enjoy.
Liam511 Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Maybe you need to spend more time making them sound awesome when you play them. Otherwise you may not be a piano hero
Peter. Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Not to mention that all of Explorers and Isolated System are on piano. um, yeah, this. although, what I missed a bit was HEAVY piano. like Space Dementia or Hoodoo.
FabriPav Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 um, yeah, this. although, what I missed a bit was HEAVY piano. like Space Dementia or Hoodoo. Hoodoo is not that heavy
Piranhaconda Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 I do miss the piano as well. It's used sparingly and pretty basic parts. Not that it's ever really been intensely difficult, but it would have been nice to hear something a bit more involved. What's there suits the songs though so I can't complain on that level, but I would gladly get rid of a song or four for something else.
Shrinking Universe Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Maybe you need to spend more time making them sound awesome when you play them. Otherwise you may not be a piano hero Are you one? Apparently so, since you so eloquently define the criteria for being a piano hero. Give the guy a break...
kueller Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Hoodoo is not that heavy Pretty aggressive for one of their piano songs.
Hopix Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 I actually thought "where's the epic, lead piano stuff?" after listening once or twice. And after several listens, there is some nice piano driven stuff, but it's not much after getting Exogenesis and USoE on the last album. There's still some nice piano going on though, Explorers seems fairly piano driven, and IS is basically a piano song, but apart from that, nothing major that I can hear.
Hat Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 Well Matt DID say he thought the previous album(s?) had lacked guitars, and wanted to change that with this album. Pretty similar to the complains of loads of fans.
Mr. ORANGE Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 How is Survival not a piano song ??? The whole song sounds killer on the piano + it has clearly been composed on the piano because of the harmony that I think is more likely to be composed on the piano... Ok and verses of Supremacy as well... (and of course Explorers and IS )
spark_ Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Survival is a piano song in the same way Chopsticks is. (A bit harsh, but only a bit). Would've liked to see a few more of the sweeping romantic influences again, but hey-ho.

darksky Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 Most Muse songs were composed on the piano. Hysteria bassline wasn't I think he meant the beginning of the song, wich is quite piano-driven. Of course it's not a Space Dementia, but it's some kind of piano song, partly.

darksky Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 ... Have I been stupid again? sorry, I'm always just half-concentrated on the muse-board currently, I'm not really thinking before posting due to that... lol, I sound like a douche
