chudenk Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 British rockers MUSE worry about the effects their elaborate stage shows have on their health - they're convinced their powerful lasers will one day blind them. The Supermassive Black Hole hitmakers are renowned for their elaborate live productions, which often feature bright beams and light shows. But the musicians have concerns about their vision after a concert stunt made them realise how damaging the lasers can be. Drummer Dominic Howard says, "We got some big white balloons, threw them into the audience and decided to focus the lasers on them. It was like a slow burn that gradually disintegrated them into nothing. We all thought, 'What the hell will our corneas be like in 20 years?' "We could end up like that amazing vocal group the Blind Boys of Alabama - getting around doing it really well but not seeing anything." source
Pip Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Oh sure, they're so very worried about the dangers of lasers that Matt likes to deflect them onto the crowd with a mirror!
JessicaSarahS Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Oh sure, they're so very worried about the dangers of lasers that Matt likes to deflect them onto the crowd with a mirror! My thoughts exactly. Sounds like they need to put the bong down for a bit.
Buxomflirter Queef Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Oh sure, they're so very worried about the dangers of lasers that Matt likes to deflect them onto the crowd with a mirror! And what about our eardrums
jbyun04 Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Oh sure, they're so very worried about the dangers of lasers that Matt likes to deflect them onto the crowd with a mirror! The crowd only get hit by the lasers for a small portion of a gig... Muse get hit by the lasers on a gig-by-gig basis. Big difference there.
Pip Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 The crowd only get hit by the lasers for a small portion of a gig... Muse get hit by the lasers on a gig-by-gig basis. Big difference there. Sorry you failed to see the humour in my post.
laurenn1 Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 What a sad excuse for a Muse related piece of news
ArtsyChick Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 It's impossible to see out of those blue blinky glasses anyway, so we know Matt can play blind.
Dee3Dee Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 *comment about lasers ruining Matt's ability to write good songs*
Hat Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 *comment about irony that what was supposed to give fans something to look at, ended up making the band blind*
dip Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 *guiding light lyrics changed to say Blinding Light*
Arcade Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 whoo whoo whoo health and saftey police say no to lasers or any nice things on stage.. maybe they could focus all the lasers at the moon and blow it up id have thought that rehersals and stage testing would rule out any kind of badness with their light shows.. but yea i suppose people do make mistakes puttin the sets together
Buxomflirter Queef Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 At least they would go blind by doing something which they love.. whereas us poor audience has gone blind because of the big stink...
Pip Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 At least they would go blind by doing something which they love.. whereas us poor audience has gone blind because of the big stink... Ewwwww yes
Pip Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Somebody please think of the children. Noooooo! That'll start another outpouring of grief!
Ekinox Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 uhm, i actually don't see how the lasers would hit them in the eyes? they probably have their back turned to the lasers anyways?
CarrieB Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 I saw that story. Maybe it's an extremely poor attempt at distraction from a certain other matter. Dom - I think you will need to think of something a bit more sensationalist and at the same time believeable than that!
Mrcookie Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 *guiding light lyrics changed to say Blinding Light*
Gareeh Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 wouldn't mind seeing matt going stevie wonder in his later life tbh.
Bliss_Saturday Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Haha that's funny!! But waaaiitt... Couldn't happen could it? I looooovee their live shows!! Bliss_Saturday Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 uhm, i actually don't see how the lasers would hit them in the eyes? they probably have their back turned to the lasers anyways? It's not the fact that they would necessarily be 'hit'... Although that wouldn't be good, I think theyre worried about the power of the lights.. If you've gone to a concert, you know how deadly blinding some of them are, especially small gigs!! I thought I was gonna go blind at John butler trio!! Lol blinding lights at a small gig... Don't Judge!! Haha
