After seeing Ozzy last night at Voodoo, I had to post again. Matt could learn ALOT about being a front man of a band from Ozzy:LOL: That man knows how to work a crowd. I have always been a big fan of Matt's but after seeing him at Voodoo, I am not that big of a fan:( I still think he is a musical genius (vocally and musically), but as far as a front man, I like the young Matt much better. I guess that is who I expected to see:( Like I said in an earlier post, I don't think he looked at the crowd more than one or two times all night where as Chris and Dom (don't know about Morgan) looked out all night. Dom did ALL of the talking and was very personable. Chris tweets which makes him personable. The only time I thought Matt had fun was during the riffs with Dom. Dom had fun all night. He turned and smiled and waved at me (or at least that's what I think, could have been anyone) at the end of the show right before he thanked New Orleans. I really like the Matt of the early days who interacted with the audience and did crazy stuff on stage. Ozzy is in his sixties and did more crazy stuff on stage than Matt did:LOL: I have some great pics of Ozzy throwing water on the crowd and blasting the crowd with a hose of foam (really funny how he would pick on the security guys and the media cameramen:LOL:) I don't think I can post Ozzy pix here? Matt needs to find his WILD side again! I was expecting something amp sex? falling on the ground and playing? I think the wildest thing he did was play his guitar behind his head and Drake's guitar player did that last night (made it look easy too:rolleyes:) I still love ya Matt, but please find your old self on the next tour:D I WANT SHOWBIZ MATT BACK:LOL:

Do you really think that showbiz Matt was a good frontman?

I have to disagree with you there. Firstly, Matt has never acted like a frontman because he has never seen himself like one (he has said that a lot of times). I agree that Ozzy is an amazing frontmant, in his own way but I think comparing him to Matt is a mistake because they are two really different people who see the live show in a different way and when you go to see Ozzy you are going to see Ozzy's band, but when you go to see Muse you're not going to see Matt's band you're going to see Matt, Dom and Chris band, all their presences are equally important on stage :)

i agree with you here. It has been said by matt in more than one interview that he has never been comfortable being the front man. So that is just how it is and you can't compare him to someone who is very comfortable being a frontman, aka Ozzy. We all can wish that he would be more interactive but that's not how he is and I for one accept him the way he is. There are rare few times where he is more talkative, goofy and silly and when that happens its great. I obviously love it when all three are this way.. It's part of what we love about them.

Matt did seem a little more distant than usual at this, but I didnt mind so much, it was still awesome.

I've really been wanting to hear MK, Bliss, and CE. I mean, theres more I want to hear, but those were my big 3 because they actually seemed possible. I was expecting only one and figured that one would be MK, so when they went MK straight into CE, I freaked out so much. I'm still in shock that i actually got to see CE live. This gig was very much success because of that.

Other notes from the fest- I thought Matt was the best guitar player ive ever seen live. That was, until I saw Tom Morello. Holy shit. I barely knew any of their stuff and I loved that set.

I dont know how it happened, but Die Antwoord had an amazing set. Maybe the best set of day 2 (Though street sweeper was some tough competition). I hadnt made up my mind whether i liked them or hated them, but that set sold me.

I was at Voodoo last night too from Atlanta. To those of you who say the crowd didn't deserve citizen erased, you may be right. But let me tell you, I've been to three dates in the states and to Casino de Paris, and have never heard something so beautiful. I was BALLING during Citizen Erased last night so there was one fan in the crowd who has never appreciated something more (not to mention my friend who was headbanging the whole time). It took me until three songs later to stop crying!! We waited around after the show was over and chatted with the crew a little bit. Ended up getting two set lists and a few of Chris's guitar picks. Today our necks are sore from rockin out and we have some spoils....best Muse experience yet.

I am so glad you got to hear it. I think most of our complaints come from the videos we have seen that shows a very lackluster crowd, who have no idea the epicness that is occuring. I'm sure the front of the stage and barrier went nuts. *patiently waits for video* Good for you for finally getting it and I'm sure a lot of us can related to the crying and needing a few minutes to process what had just happened.

well, from everything ive heard, Voodoo crowds are usually pretty tame. I was at the barrier for muse though and everyone i know around me was going pretty crazy

The crowd was pretty crazy during street sweeper social club though (Though they did more to get everyone into it). And the dance tent crowds for the most part have been good. so I dont know.

About Matt - I thought in VA that he seemed a bit more distant than normal. He was still there and still into it, but he was kinda quiet I thought. I know he rarely ever says anything, but usually there's a random "cheers" or whatever, we barely got anything... he must have been in a quiet mood ;)

You funny boardies:LOL: Old Matt on Hullabaloo, HARRP, all early red haired, blue haired, yellow haired, whatever hair, most festival vids around the world on you tube show him as an excellent FRONT MAN. He was having FUN on stage that is what makes a person a good FRONT MAN:D I know he says he's never been comfortable as a front man and he's never considered himself a front man, but when he has sex with the amp:D throws drums off the platform or throws his guitar on the stage:D prances around on his toes, side step dances, I could go on, but I hope you know what I mean by being a GOOD FRONT MAN without me having to cite previous examples. Ozzy had a blast!!!!Matt went through the set and only cracked a smile during the riffs with Dom. I didn't expect him to talk to the crowd, but I did expect him to show a little unique Mattness on stage...I guess he's too old for that kind of stuff now. Don't get me wrong, he put on a great show, I just like the show old Matt used to put on, and still does when he isn't in the US:( I showed them all the LOVE I had in me and I'm paying for it now. My calves and neck muscles are in PAIN!!! I'm so glad I got to see MY FAVORITE BAND LIVE:D I am also a product of 80's Rock, so OZZY was AMAZING! Mr. Crowley, Suicide Solution, Mama I'm Comin Home, Iron Man and Crazy Train....OZZY knows what the people want to HEAR:p

So bitter....just....so bitter.

Me? I'm not bitter at all, just disappointed in Matt...Like I said in an earlier post, I am now a bigger fan of Dom, Chris, and Morgan after the VooDoo performance. I was expecting something more from Matt I guess:(

Anyway, time for trick or treating with the kids:)

-- My CE vid is finally up. Not the best sound in the world, because bass was just too fucked up that night. Being on the barrier made it all that much worse.

Still, not complaining!!

Great video!! Thanks Natalia

I know a majority of these pics are of matt, but he's the most photogenic for some reason and my best shots are of him! I'll try to get some other ones up of dom and chris later :D

A few more

Nice pics thanks for sharing :D

I gotta say, at the Columbus show Matt was interacting quite a bit (for him) with the crowd. He was shining his double neck guitar light on both sides of the crowd for several minutes getting us all energized and was shining that weird metallic box on the crowd too. And he was running around a lot and hammering on the guitar, swinging it around and having a blast.

I don't need front men to interact much with the crowd. I just want them to look like they are having fun while playing. Some of my least favorite concerts are when the front man/woman spent too much time talking. I paid money to hear music, not have a conversation.

Thanks Natalia. That's a nice shot of the 7 String. It's a shame about the sound.

He's been doing that a lot lately, and clearly enjoying the hell out of the crowd's reaction too. I've seen a couple of pics and video where he has this huge grin on face while doing it.

I'm listening to all the videos I took on my Blackberry.

1.) My mic is atrocious

2.) So is yours - it's not equipped for that type of recording :)

3.) I still think Dom's electro-drumming on UD was awesome.

4.) I can't sing like Matt for shit, but I tried

5.) NOBODY NEAR ME sang along! :(

6.) Despite all of the above, I still thoroughly enjoyed their set

7.) I got a piece of eyeball!

8.) And a beach ball!
