Oh, oh, oh! This just in! .. not that it matters that much but yea .. Matt hates Twilight! A quote has started spreading where he apparently says:

“ Yeah, I’ll admit it, I hate Twilight too. They told me it was gonna be a movie about vampires, and I was like ‘Fuck yeah, we’re in a horror movie with this shitty pop song I wrote!’. Then I found out it’s not a horror movie, it’s some stupid fucking romance novel shit with a creepy stalker. And they play baseball to our song. What the hell? ”

Once I find out the source of this quote I'll post it here. :D Maybe this new song is actually a parody of the movie, only the studio didn't realize it. I still love that song 'though. But it'd explain the lyrics so far.

I'll keep you updated.

I think it was Mozza.

Oh feck, this is getting to be catchy :$ lol. Still cheesy as hell, but it's growing ohhh sooo slowly on me. There's something in the bass and drumming that's appealing, and the tune is okaay, but WHYY does it have to be so full of teh cheezez?! Muse can has cheese - without the burger, lol.

I'd like to think it'll be better when we hear the whole thing, but something tells me the lyrics will be just as bad all the way through... LE SIGH!

£50 says it'll be played on one of the Stadium tours, haha. Or at least in the States at the end of the year for the fangirlz :awesome:

It's from the "What Would Matt Bellamy Do?" random-quote generator on Facebook. Totally fake.

Being cheesy has nothing to do with being about love, imo. I know plenty of songs about love which are not cheesy at all :erm:

:yesey:

Problem with writing positive love songs is that the obvious way is to make them cheesy and tacky. Writing a happy love song without it being vomint inducing is incredibly difficult.

Thanks! Muse need to hurry up and release that song, they are killing me here

It's only another day and a half now :p

Ohh, this reminds me of something maybe completely opposite but Twilight association related - in my mind, IBTY is a great/awesome (power ballad/new Muse tune/pop/whatever) song that (for some contractual reason/deal with Twilight New Moon) they can't play live in the TR tour - that upsets me.

*So the right time has come? That they can possibly play IBTY in the summer/fall tour?*

Where was it contractual reasons? I thought they weren't playing it live because Matt didn't want to embarass himself singing in French and didn't want to take the risk on playing a different arrangement of the song. It's not one of my favourites but for the so called 'Resistance Tour' they didn't really play much of it :erm:

I think it was Mozza.

What have I done now?

Guys dont expect matt to come up with freakin BRILLANT lyrics for a crappy twatlight movie..

He shouldn't compromise his musical integrity for any song release, Twilight or not.

How many times does it have to be repeated that the song was NOT written for twilight?

was it not?

no really...it's confusing. where has it been said by someone from the band that this song was NOT written for twilight?

cause they weren't going to write a song for it...then they were...then dom said the band wasn't going to be on the soundtrack at all...and now obviously they are...

personally i've decided i don't care if it was written FOR the movie or not. they still ended up on the soundtrack. and since i'm not sending hate to fatm for being on it i'm not going to kvetch anymore about muse doing it.

but yeah... /rambling

The links and quotes have been posted here like 200 times, so I'm not gonna spend my time on looking for them.

Someone on the board who met Matt a few months ago said he told her that he wrote a song for the next Twilight film, so unless she misunderstood what he said, it seems like he did write it for the film. The lyrics fit with the theme of the film too.

As to the many other comments on the lyrics being cheesy, personally I couldn't care less if they're cheesy or not. I like the songs for the overall sound rather than the words and I'm liking the sound of this so far .:)

EDIT: But I can see the point of the moans about the cheesy lyrics as it's one thing moshing to 'My plug in baby, crucifies my enemies' but trying to get the crowd going to 'love is forever, and we'll die, we'll die together'....hmmmm

I was going to point out All By Myself, which is miserable.

But then I realised it was a cover. Seems no one writes their own fucking songs these days :fear:

Dom said that it was a personal song, not written for Twilight, but goodness knows where the interview is. It has already been posted on here.

Saying that, it was in the context that it was a song that was going to be on the film, or was no longer going to be on the film. I can't remember. Still Dom apparently said their riffs are spontaneous too, so who knows! :chuckle:

Also Matt said quite recently to Emily - it's in the "have you ever met Muse" thread or a title to that effect (in the gigs forum) that he had written a song and wasn't sure whether or not it was a good idea to give it to Eclipse. But then Matt may have just been flirting! :chuckle:
