JimmyP117
q57qB6Kwroo Finally figured out what the song + the video reminds me of! About 53 seconds in. Yes! I had the exact same thought, those drums at 1:09 as well
heyjackk
Best muse song since TR, other than IS. The Handler wants a word Definitely one of their best album openers ever though - perhaps on a par with Take a Bow as the best in my books. OriginOfAbso
I really like it, but I have a feeling people won't view this one quite as highly down the road. Not sure in what way exactly, but I just feel like it could be a little better.

Zolic
Terry Crews as Bernard in the video amused me quite a bit

Clunge
The AR version has nothing on the plain album version.
Hopix
The AR version has nothing on the plain album version. Yeah I think this is the only one where I'm sure I like the album version more. Whereas TDS, The Void and Break it to Me I still can't decide.
Tesseract
I love the AR version because I'm a huge fan of film scores, but I agree the album version is the better one.

Can't wait for the first movie scored by Matt. Imagine a fucking hour of his instrumentals. He's ready. Bring it.
JimmyP117
For the vocal experts out there...the highest note sung in the 'crea-TORR' harmonies, are they G5s? Thought it was my mind making them up in the album version but they seem a tad more present in the alternative version. They sounds marvellous. Hat
Close. The backing vocals go up to F#5.
Museings
I turned this off first time I heard it but now..... it blows my mind. Either it will be very early on my Muse playlist, or the epic final track on it.

Anyone who ‘turns off’ the opening track of a new album by a band they love enough to sign up to their messageboard must have the attention span of a gnat . Don't tell me about it... My listening attention span freaking sucks. I really try listening to a lot of music when I can, I really want to, but it's like I'm getting tired of listening after two minutes and a half, no matter what genre the song is. And I hate it. Then, I listen to 6-minute long drones (no pun intended), noise profiling experiments by the likes of Merzbow, Igorrr or Throbbing Gristles and they manage to keep my attention up. What the heck is wrong with me? Edited November 14, 2018 by MartianSpaghettiRider

MartianSpaghettiRider
I'd recommend seeing a doctor asap. My brain can't tell if you're serious or is it just a little joke. Either way, it's really nice of you!
frutiger75
clearly, this will open the live set of the upcoming tour. there is no other logical spot if this is played live. but...how, exactly? i think some sort of an amalgamation of the album version + AR has to be achieved. maybe the first 1:35 of the album into the AR version...and then somehow revert back into the album version midstream...go back into AR...and end with AR? or 1:35 album version into AR to completion? or 1:35 album version into AR 'til about 2:32 into album version completion? or entire album version? or entire AR? judge, jury and executioner. frutiger75
It will just be album version. For sure. probably so. and, assuming it will open every gig on the tour (right? where else would it fit in a setlist?), i suppose that means matt's going to be at the piano at the start of each show. I’d err towards expecting him to stick to the guitar parts and leave those couple of piano flourishes to Morgan or playback tbh.
OriginOfAbso
Matt opening the show with that powerful piano would be epic though.
Clunge
No way it will happen though in the modern Muse era. The last epic piano opening we had was Apocalypse Please - that was 13-15 years ago. Iirc, they might have opened a couple of shows with Hoodoo in the BH&R era, but only a couple at most.
Zepp
I think they might appear on stage when the piano part kicks in. It's too important for Matt to leave it to Morgan, no?
