altbecky Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Given the chatter about what rarities we'd all like to hear at an anniversary gig, it might be worth discussing if they could even play the songs we're asking for. I mean, Showbiz? I don't know if Matt could hit that last note anymore? Discuss.
Alexander DeLarge Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 His Bliss/Sign of The Times falsettos in L.A. last year sounded fantastic. I'm sure he could, especially after playing Supremacy every night.
Defector. Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Probably not the same way he used to, but the note at the end of survival & at the end of showbiz are the same..
FabriPav Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 No way he'd be able to hit that note. He has no voice anymore, afterall. The days of good live muse are over by now......
FabriPav Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 I mean, no way they'd be able to play Glorious (Chris obviously isn't good enough to play the bassline), Assassin (Dom obviously isn't fast enough to play those drums) or Hyper Chondriac Music (Matt doesn't have the pedals for the outro) either.
ryanp16 Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Maybe they could pull it off but they're just too afraid to try. I guess we'll never know.
altbecky Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 I don't know man. I think Showbiz has harder, more tiring vocals through the whole thing than Survival. By the time he got to the last note, I think he'd be too knackered to really belt it. I was watching that footage of Glorious you posted, Kueller, in another thread, and I was actually thinking that Dom doesnt' drum that way anymore... I mean on T2L tour, he was all mic'd up and had tracks backing him...
Finn. Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 They can't play Showbiz, Glorious or Assassin now, same with Space Dementia, i'm sure Matt can't play the piano of the song anymore, he is getting old and slow, probably that's the reason he don't play the guitar on Blackout too.
Alec Ferris Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 I still find this sort of discussion quite odd, considering that there are bands like Meshuggah have been going for a quarter of a century, and are still quite capable of playing songs which would see Muse tie themselves in knots. Vocal issues are one thing, but is Showbiz really any more difficult to drum on than, say, KoC?
Bumpypotato Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Muse are shit now. They just play generic, shitty pop. Sellouts.
Defector. Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 10/10 sarcasm & stupidity all in one thread, quite a show.
FabriPav Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 10/10 sarcasm & stupidity all in one thread, quite a show. Your username is still worse than anything in this thread
Defector. Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Your username is still worse than anything in this thread True. Very true.
serpentsatellite Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 10/10 sarcasm & stupidity all in one thread, quite a show. Just because you don't get it, doesn't mean it's not amusing.
Defector. Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Just because you don't get it, doesn't mean it's not amusing. Oh, no, I get it, both the sarcasm & stupidity are great laughs
ryanp16 Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Well I guess we were wrong when we said they couldn't play Futurism, so maybe they might have a chance with this?
altbecky Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 Totally being serious here. There are reasons they don't play Showbiz anymore, maybe one of them is Matt just can't hack the vocals anymore.
ryanp16 Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Or maybe they "just forgot to put it back in the sets" like Animals.
Larry. Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Totally being serious here. There are reasons they don't play Showbiz anymore, maybe one of them is Matt just can't hack the vocals anymore. If he can comfortably hit the high notes in microcuts, half a step up is by no means a stretch.
JrMan Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Tbh if he could still play it they would've played it by now. It's probably gone forever.
JessicaSarahS Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Surprised he can even walk at this stage tbh.
