frogmore0uk Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Anyone know what Bass Chris uses on this track? I got screen grabs from behind the scenes video but can't see the headstock for the name. Its a semi acoustic/hollow bass Thanks in advance
Sunflower1mdp Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 I love this song! It's probably one of my new faves. I love everything about it--the melody, the lyrics, the images the lyrics conjure up and of course, Matt's voice.
Flor Amarillo Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 It's nice but i can't settle... It's too long, a ballad can't last 6 minutes! And the chorus:eek:
Starburst Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 I like it because it's actually a dark song even though it sounds gentle. The lyrics are so sad
The Cynical Optimist Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Actually, this might be one of my new favorite Muse songs. It's kind of more gentle than some of their other songs, but the lyrics still hold quite a bit of meaning { and they're very sad }. *transfers lyrics to signature*
philistine Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 I think it's absolutely gorgeous... Most definetly my favourite song on The 2nd Law. I actually seeked out this thread, via 'search', after scrolling through the thread re Big Freeze and seeing a comment regarding Explorers, in a negative light, and begun to think perhaps the general concensus dislikes this song. Quite releaved to see the contrary
In Ryanbows Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 It's nice but i can't settle... It's too long, a ballad can't last 6 minutes! And the chorus:eek:
hairolfitri Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Since I can't vote "It's alright", I'll go with yes. Wouldn't mind it being shorter though.
musefanlondon Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 I heard this live for the first time at the Shepherd's Bush Empire the other day and I have to say it's just as boring as it is on the album. Didn't help that it followed KoC... One of my least favourite Muse songs. The only part I like really is "Running around in circles feeling caged by endless rules" "Go to sleep" - I did.
Nipso Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 It worked perfectly after Knights. Knights nearly kills you, Explorers calms everyone down and gives you (well, me) a chance to tie your shoelaces so they don't get ripped off and you have to spend money on new ones. What?
kueller Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 It worked perfectly after Knights. Knights nearly kills you, Explorers calms everyone down and gives you (well, me) a chance to tie your shoelaces so they don't get ripped off and you have to spend money on new ones. What? Velcro.
musefanlondon Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 It worked perfectly after Knights. Knights nearly kills you, Explorers calms everyone down I disagree, I don't think it works all that well. Yes it's nice to have a bit of a comedown after a song like Knights but this song is not a good choice. After the buzz of Knights you still need a song with a bit of oomph otherwise the mood is just killed flat, as it was with Explorers. It made the placing of Knights in the middle of the set feel even more bizarre.
vinya12 Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 I have not read any of this thread, so please fogive me if it has been said befoe but. I love Explorers but i do find the sounds of Oompa Loompas singing at the end a put off
vinya12 Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Oh, and thankyou MUSE for the live orchestra very happy
mskatie Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 I really like Explorers. The lyrics are some of the best on the album, imo. They put me in a pensive mood. Also, the pacing is quite good; it doesn't seem like a six minute long song. And I love when the Christmassy bells come in.
FabriPav Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 Also, the pacing is quite good; it doesn't seem like a six minute long song. We're listening to two different songs
kueller Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 We're listening to two different songs That would explain why you don't like it. You must have downloaded a song that wasn't Explorers.
FabriPav Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 That would explain why you don't like it. You must have downloaded a song that wasn't Explorers. I ripped it from the original CD inside the boxset
kueller Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 I ripped it from the original CD inside the boxset Yeah and Mexico didn't even get a booklet so who knows what you got.
