jdeboer01 Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 I did do a search and found a thread from a few years ago with one ONE response. What interview questions would you have for Muse? I'll start: Question: Do any of you ever lurk on the Muse BB?
diamond_writer Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Hmm...That's a toughie... I'd ask Matt for guitar lessons I'd ask Dom for drum lessons. I'd ask Chris for bass lessons. And then I'd ask Morgan if he's OK with being the least recognized of the Muse gang. I'm asking them for lessons to have more time with them and have time to figure out an actual question.

Guitar lessons with Matt. HOLY SHIT.
diamond_writer Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Guitar lessons with Matt. HOLY SHIT. He'd have to start from the very beginning, I bet that'd be tough on him. Oh well.
zomuse Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 He'd have to start from the very beginning, I bet that'd be tough on him. Oh well. I would lie and say I'm a complete beginner so I get more lessons
jdeboer01 Posted January 27, 2012 Author Posted January 27, 2012 Hmm...That's a toughie... I'd ask Matt for guitar lessons I'd ask Dom for drum lessons. I'd ask Chris for bass lessons. Those aren't 'interview' questions, you! Another question: Matt, what the heck was up with the duct tape all over your guitars in the early days? And Chris did it sometimes too?
DonnaRaines Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 um...i would ask...dom: What would you do if you were Matt?
Teffy Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 I could ask them how they feel about the criticism they receive, especially from fans. When I was 16, I met my rock n roll hero of the day and quite literally couldn't think of a thing to say!
Jobby Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Those aren't 'interview' questions, you! Another question: Matt, what the heck was up with the duct tape all over your guitars in the early days? And Chris did it sometimes too? Because it looked pretty damn cool Seriously, the duct tape on the Gibson DC was a big improvement. I'm doing it to a guitar I'm making when I've finished it EDIT: Oh, and as for what I'd ask them...well, despite the inevitability of me being starstruck, there is one question that needs answering properly.
DonnaRaines Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 EDIT: Oh, and as for what I'd ask them...well, despite the inevitability of me being starstruck, there is one question that needs answering properly. hahaha! i also want to see Coma live!
Furygirl Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Well, there is THIS thread, but since this one is pertaining to all members of the band, I won't merge it.... http://board.muse.mu/showthread.php?t=47416&highlight=meet I'll have to get back to you about what I'd ask them, though.
Princess of Promise Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Err...there are two questions I'm sure we'd all like answered. 1. Are you going to do something similar to Leeds 2011 for Absolution's 10th? and... 2. WTF does Plug In Baby mean?
jdeboer01 Posted January 27, 2012 Author Posted January 27, 2012 Because it looked pretty damn cool Seriously, the duct tape on the Gibson DC was a big improvement. I'm doing it to a guitar I'm making when I've finished it I thought it looked silly and pretentious, actually -- if it was there for no other reason than to "look cool". Okay, here's another question I would have: Has fame become a burden for you? Particularly for Matt, who has to deal with the paps from time to time.
kueller Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 I thought it looked silly and pretentious, actually -- if it was there for no other reason than to "look cool". I don't see how it's very pretentious, maybe he really did think it looked cool
jdeboer01 Posted January 27, 2012 Author Posted January 27, 2012 2. WTF does Plug In Baby mean? I don't think we'll ever get a straight answer out of Matt on that one! Probably because it's basically about internet porn, and he's not going to admit that.
jdeboer01 Posted January 27, 2012 Author Posted January 27, 2012 I don't see how it's very pretentious, maybe he really did think it looked cool Probably. It was his guitar, and he can do whatever he wants with it.
Jobby Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 I thought it looked silly and pretentious, actually -- if it was there for no other reason than to "look cool". To be fair, Muse aren't exactly the least pretentious band in the world Some of it may well have been there simply because some parts of the guitar were broken though. Also, on the Gibson, there's a piece of what looks like a bass guitar's fingerboard taped just below the bridge so it could've possibly been there for sentimental reasons (that might've been the first instrument they broke on stage and they wanted to keep a piece). Or it could've just been for aesthetic reasons. Who knows? Like you said, it's something that could do with being answered.
kueller Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Consider all the custom stuff he has I think Matt's just always been a fan of effects and putting random shit on his guitar.
jdeboer01 Posted January 27, 2012 Author Posted January 27, 2012 Consider all the custom stuff he has I think Matt's just always been a fan of effects and putting random shit on his guitar. Maybe. I'd still want to ask him. I don't believe anyone ever has.
Gohenko Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 I don't think we'll ever get a straight answer out of Matt on that one! Probably because it's basically about internet porn, and he's not going to admit that. I actually think it's about his guitar.
Furygirl Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 I think I would ask Matt about being a new parent, because that would be an easy topic and something I can relate to. I don't know what I would say to Dom. I think I would just try to feed him. I would probably talk to Chris about Legend of Zelda. I actually think it's about his guitar. Basically, no one knows what the hell it's about, but I guess his guitar is one of the things: http://www.musewiki.org/Plug_In_Baby_%28song%29
jdeboer01 Posted January 28, 2012 Author Posted January 28, 2012 I actually think it's about his guitar. My plug in baby Crucifies my enemies When I'm tired of giving My plug in baby In unbroken virgin realities Is tired of living I take "unbroken virgin realities" to mean the virtual reality of the internet. The scene created or observed online is not reality. It has not happened. It's virgin. And Matt resorts to this when he's sick and tired of living in "real life". Real life always wants something from him, and he's tired of giving. I've exposed your lies, baby The underneath is no big surprise Now it's time for changing And cleansing everything To forget your love I take this to simply mean that he knows it's not reality, that it's a "lie". And after the "deed is done" he can forget about about it and just erase it from himself guilt free. I think if the song were simply about his guitar, he would have admitted it. Plus, have you seen the video?! It's all beautiful women who are not real, with cables & wires for bodies. ETA: He's also given one of his "crack responses" to the question which, hilariously, some people believed. Something about "genetically engineered puppies" I think I would ask Matt about being a new parent, because that would be an easy topic and something I can relate to. This most definitely would be on my list as well. Also to ask him if he feels being a father has changed him in any way.
Teffy Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 I don't think we'll ever get a straight answer out of Matt on that one! Probably because it's basically about internet porn, and he's not going to admit that. I wondered something like that to start with but then I thought that was maybe a bit obvious for Matt don't you think? Perhaps his relationship with his guitar? Who knows!
jdeboer01 Posted January 28, 2012 Author Posted January 28, 2012 I wondered something like that to start with but then I thought that was maybe a bit obvious for Matt don't you think? Perhaps his relationship with his guitar? Who knows! Lots of his lyrics are obvious. I just see absolutely nothing in the PIB lyrics, video, or interview answers that would indicate that it's about his guitar. Perhaps the chorus could be construed that way, but it does not explain "unbroken virgin realities" at all. More interview questions! Is it true that Matt will not record vocals with the band present? If so, why? How much rehearsal is done before going into the studio, and are vocals rehearsed or not? If not, do Dom & Chris have any idea what the vocal melody of songs will sound like before going into the studio?
Teffy Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 2. WTF does Plug In Baby mean? This would seem to be a really good question to ask Matt
