  1. I wouldn't call City of Delusion or Hoodoo acoustic songs. Using an acoustic guitar as one of many insturement doesn't make heavily produced tracks acoustic. I think Muse's only songs that can currently qualify as acoustic are Soldiers Poem, Unintended and Map of your head. If more of that excites you then fair enough, but personally I don't think Matt has a strong enough lyrical ability or is able to resist his tendency to write cheesy melodies, which is why this rumour doesn't sound amazing.
  2. R+L '17 has a hell of a lot to live up to after last time... 20 songs per night with 8 rotations, L / R Knights of Cydonia Hysteria New Born Assassin / The Small Print Micro Cuts / Dead Star Muscle Museum / Showbiz Citizen Erased Dead Inside / Madness Starlight / Mercy Butterflies and Hurricanes Time is Running Out / Uprising Supermassive Black Hole MK Ultra / Map of the Problematique + Riffs Psycho Reapers Bliss Blackout / Ruled By Secrecy Take a Bow Plug in Baby Stockholm Syndrome + Riffs
  3. I'm not so bothered about the scream, its cool but my favourite part of the '04 SS performances were the way they performed the final chorus. And the best final chorus has to be Earl's Court! The extended G Matt hangs onto over the D minor to Bb major chord change is so ridiculously awesome, would love to hear him sing it like that live again.
  4. I think that's a little harsh on Assassin and KoC. Assassin is only a dissapointment becuase we know what could have been, but it's still one of the better tracks on the album. KoC is a great song, but I agree that on the album it has terrible production. Agree on the first 4 though, they are all a big step down in quality from Absolution standards. Maybe SP could have been a b-side and the others ditched.
  5. T2L US tour had Map, Stockholm, New Born and Bliss in the rotation, and the sets were longer, performances better and an overall stage show that was more effective. I think it's fair to say that the US leg of the Drones tour was a dissapointment in comparison.
  6. MK Ultra and Exogenesis are both great. The biggest problem TR had was the best songs off the album either barely or never got played in concert and some of the ones that were really don't work live (looking at you Undisclosed Desires). But as a studio album, it's pretty good!
  7. Don't take it so personally. There's a difference between disliking a band and disliking you. No one said "anyone who likes Queen is stupid", just that they themselves think a lot of their songs are bad. For the record I disagree that Queen are crap. I think Queen have a load of good songs that range from fun to fantastic. But I hate how Muse has emulated Queen so much on the last few albums, I really don't think it suits them. Muse just aren't very good at trying to be Queen.
  8. eh, that's kind of cool I guess. Great sound quality on the recording and Matt's voice sounds fantastic but I do think it looks a little awkward in Shepherd's Bush. I did like Take a Bow when I saw it at Wembley, but in general I find it one step too far with the melodrama.
  9. BH&R is mostly stadium rock. I really don't think it would suit the small venue setting. Take a bow, Hoodoo and Invincible would all be pretty cringe. Obviously it would be a cool set for the reasons of getting a load of rarities but I'd honestly prefer a Zepp style mosh if I managed to go to one of these surprise club gigs.
  10. Good on the band for enjoying themselves as much as ever, but this isn't really my kind of thing. I don't find it funny enough to watch for a laugh and I definitely won't be listening to it.
  11. I'd go for Knights after Hysteria and a first encore of: Map MK Ultra Muscle Museum Plug in Baby Reapers Weird how well it works in general though, the second encore is fantastic.

  13. I don't expect them to do a worldwide club tour. I just think it would be good for the band and fans to mix it up a little bit more with their venue choices outside of the UK. Its well known how much the band (especially Matt) dislikes performing in the US. Playing some smaller venues over there may draw a crowd more to their liking and the performances could improve as a result. The band should be doing more of what they enjoy. The LA Staples gig I went to last year wasn't the worst because of the setlist (although that didn't help), but because it was so half arsed.
  14. I would potentially be interested - and live in London.
  15. My attempt at a farewell stadium gig using all the albums with hardcore fan favourites as well as biggest commercial hits. Sunburn New Born Psycho Hysteria Supermassive Black Hole Map of the Problematique The Handler Fury Micro Cuts Dead Star Muscle Museum Citizen Erased Ruled By Secrecy United States of Eurasia Feeling Good Madness Dead Inside Starlight Butterflies and Hurricanes Uprising Time is Running Out Reapers Stockholm Syndrome Take a Bow Exogenesis Blackout Plug in Baby Bliss City of Delusion Showbiz Knights of Cydonia Obviously the length is very unrealistic - maybe two gigs at Wembley with sensible rotation could bring it down to two 25 nighters. Also the run from Feeling Good to Starlight is a write-off, but I couldn't find a better way to get in all those hits without ruining the flow of other sections.
  16. Not sure 1 song off Drones and none off T2L is really "a reflection of their career" especially without either Madness or Dead Inside. Whether we like it or not, an all encompassing farewell gig should acnoledge their poppy side. Would love to see that setlist though - the run from Knights to Space Dementia is awesome.
  17. How I'd want a 15 Song Club gig. Dead Star Micro Cuts The Small Print Assassin MK Ultra Citizen Erased Ruled By Secrecy Fury City of Delusion Reapers Muscle Museum Bliss Hyperchondriac Music Showbiz Stockholm Syndrome
  18. What I'd like to see them go for next tour - 25 songs - 6 from new album *New Song* Plug in Baby / Bliss Hysteria / Map of the Problematique *New Song* Supermassive Black Hole Reapers / The Handler Assassin / MK Ultra Muscle Museum / Showbiz Citizen Erased / Butterflies and Hurricanes *New Piano Song* Ruled By Secrecy / Space Dementia Sunburn / Hoodoo *New Pop Song* Dead Inside / Madness Starlight / Mercy Time is Running Out New Born / Unnatural Selection *New Song* Knights of Cydonia Blackout / Exogenesis Part 1: Overture Psycho / Uprising *New Song* Dead Star / Micro Cuts Stockholm Syndrome Take a Bow

  20. I think I'm more critical of Muse's later releases now that they are established musicians. There's a feeling of 'they should have known better'. There's a load of crap songs from Muse's early years, but they used to write far more songs than they to now, which was bound to produce a few duds. These bad songs are usually just bland or forgettable, rather than embarrassing. Unfortunately, I find the worst songs from the last 3 albums are actually embarrassing, especially considering they are handpicked early on in the song writing process as the best musical ideas they came up with. I think my worst 5 are: The Globalist & Unsustainable << Explorers, Guiding Light & Revolt
