  1. Album version maybe. (I do love the song) Live? I'm not so sure anymore. FWIW, I lumped it in with the not-gonna-happen medley because it would fit pretty well with Madness.
  2. If they did a 10-minute medley that got Madness, Dead Inside, Mercy and Starlight out of the way, I'd be cool with that.
  3. Obviously, I have no idea but those are 3 rather large markets to leave out of the tour. One has to assume that something will be forthcoming.
  4. I was wondering if they were going to give Lollapalooza another go next summer after the "weather malfunction" last time. They did just announce that smaller show at the Aragon in Chicago next month.
  5. No doubt. One of the drones came down in the section right beside where I was sitting. Between the drones malfunctioning and losing the "piano song" because of the stage riser not working, that show was a bit too Spinal Tap. Plus, the crowd was pretty dead. I plan on getting tickets for the LCA show and, on a bit of a whim, I just bought tickets for the December show at the Aragon in Chicago. I'm curious to see what that show will turn out to be.
  6. I've said that before as well. If Muse can't find it in themselves to drop any of the greatest hits for a rarity once in a while, at least they could try to rework a well known song for something fresh. They don't even change up the intros and outros to the songs. The snippets of Back in Black, Heartbreaker, House of the Rising Sun etc. might feel like a cool spontaneous improv to the newbie crowd but Muse have been doing the same ones for years. I mean, what's the worst thing that could happen from playing a stripped back, piano version of Starlight? People might not do the hand-clap?
  7. You're right and that reasoning makes the original comment even more nonsensical. The supposed "dumbing down" of DD is, of course, a gospel version. That style of music originated in the deep rural south of the US which is about as far from urban inner cities as you can get. Just an ignorant comment on many levels. That said, I really liked this performance of Dig Down even though I don't like the original version at all. I mean, if you're going to make a gospel-tinged song, you might as well go all in.
  8. Funny. Pressure seems to be almost all groove and not much else. Personally, I wouldn't call Supremacy a "James Bond impression" but, upon first hearing it, I couldn't help but think that it would be the theme song for the next JB movie.
  9. Since they're using the ticket pre-sale code as bait to pre-order the album, I doubt that the tickets will go on sale until near or after the release date in November.
  10. I'm probably too critical of the new songs because it's Muse. On the other hand, I probably wouldn't be listening to most of them at all if it wasn't Muse. It's like I'm being too unforgiving and too forgiving at the same time. I can see the comparisons of Pressure to both Blue Orchid & Over and Over and Over. Sadly, it pales in comparison to both songs. (Admittedly, I'm partial to Jack White and Blue Orchid might be my favourite WS song.) The riffing is catchy and I do like the sporadic instrumental breaks. It's might be Chris' best bass line in a while. That chorus though... Still a halfway decent song overall, I guess. On the bright side, Something Human may be growing on me a little. My stomach doesn't feel queasy when I hear it anymore, at least.
  11. I've seen a few people here get a bit roused up over it. Perhaps not brilliantly.
  12. ...and it's not totally off (depending upon how highly one rates Showbiz). https://www.nme.com/blogs/nme-blogs/muse-rank-the-albums-759633
  13. Finally a new Muse song that I can get on board with. Upon the first listen, I kept thinking that the song wouldn't sound entirely out of place on Origin of Symmetry. By coincidence, I had thrown the song from Tidal onto a random Muse playlist and it happened to land right before Darkshines. The songs sounded somewhat similar and flowed together nicely.
  14. I haven't been inclined to listen to any of these 3 singles more than a few times each. They've all been pretty forgettable and disposable for me. Nowadays, I'll buy some vinyl from time to time but never CD's anymore. I'll naturally check out the new Muse album on Tidal, Spotify or whatever. That said, I can't imagine spending too much time with it even over a streaming service unless the rest of the album is drastically better than what they've released so far.
  15. Just about what I was thinking. Judging from their setlists, "classic Muse" would appear to include Starlight, SMBH, Resistance, Madness etc.
  16. Just pulled up YouTube on the tv figuring that I'd might as well check out the Something Human video on a screen larger than my phone. The first thing that came up in my "Suggested videos" for Muse was Hullabaloo so I watched that for half an hour. Dead Star, Micro Cuts, Citizen Erased, Sunburn, Showbiz, Megalomania. Didn't end up watching Something Human. Seemed pointless after that.
  17. Sadly, I find myself in the seemingly pessimistic majority. I was really looking forward to Drones based on Psycho, Dead Inside and Reapers. The album more or less met the expectations created by those songs. These 3 latest singles, on the other hand, pale in comparison to the Drones releases and don't give me much optimism for the upcoming album. Hopefully, they'll surprise me because I do want to enjoy their music.
  18. If I had randomly heard this song on the radio, I would have dismissed it out of hand and changed the station. Knowing that it's new Muse, I decided to give it another listen. (Or another listen and a half to be totally accurate.) I surely liked it less the second time. This song literally induced a sense of queasiness in my gut as if I was trying to choke down some bad sushi. Aftermath on calypso steroids. Admittedly, the synth solo is kinda cool. Based on DD, TC and SH, I'm wondering if I'll be able to get through the upcoming album in one sitting. This stuff is not my cup of tea.
  19. For a song called "Something Human" the music sounds more like something plastic and mechanical. Not as dreadful as Dig Down, I guess, but the song breezes by without leaving much of an impression. After a couple minutes, I was ready for the song to be over.
  20. Dig Down, Undisclosed Desires, Madness, Starlight, Mercy all in one set? Hmmm, I didn't know that Rock am Ring was in the US.
