  1. From setlist.fm Algorithm [Drill Sergeant] Psycho Cherub Rock (The Smashing Pumpkins cover) Uprising (Extended outro) Break It to Me Time Is Running Out Pressure Supermassive Black Hole Madness Stockholm Syndrome / Assassin / Reapers / The Handler / Dead Star / Micro Cuts / New Born Starlight Knights of Cydonia Seriously relieved that I sold my tickets 3 weeks ago (in time to recoup my money before resale prices bottomed out) and didn't drive to Chicago for this BS. This looks like maybe a 75-minute set? Hard pass.
  2. Absolution Origin of Symmetry Black Holes and Revelations Drones (Possibly based on listening to the first half and trying to ignore most of the second) The 2nd Law Showbiz The Resistance Simulation Theory (The Dark Side is good. A few other songs are OK but nothing that ranks with their best.)
  3. For me, the omission of Plug In Baby is more significant than the song itself. What it often means is that they end up playing nothing off of Origin of Symmetry, regarded by so many fans as their best album. They can play Bliss, Citizen Erased or New Born and it would be even better. If they can't even throw the fans an obvious bone like PIB, it's a damn shame.
  4. For sure. I haven't seen PIB live since The Resistance tour. My Drones show had nothing from OoS and T2L show got New Born only with the roulette wheel thing.
  5. Yeah, you east-of-the-pond fans sure have it rough when it comes to Muse set lists. 😢
  6. Maybe it's just luck of the draw but I have trouble thinking of Map as a rarity because it's been played at just about every gig I've seen. I was also fortunate enough to see RbS, B&H and Sunburn at TR and T2L shows. Never seen them do AP, CE, Dead Star or Bliss. Hell, the Drones show that I saw didn't even have Plug In Baby or anything else from OoS.
  7. Agree with all of this. I was going to say that their choice of venues factors into the problem. Because Muse plays arenas in the US that often outsize their popularity, they end up with a lot of casual fans who don't know anything but the more recent singles. If they played smaller concert halls and the tickets took more effort to obtain, you'd have a bigger concentration of hard core fans. I guess there's more money to be made in playing a half-full arena than a sold-out hall/auditorium/theatre. The flip side is that maybe they are playing the songs that they want to play. In that case, we should all fuck off.
  8. I've rarely seen more disengaged fans than when the band played The Globalist during the last tour and that consumed about 10% of their actual stage time for the whole show. Most of the people around me were just talking, especially during the quiet first section. I doubt that throwing in 4 minutes of Bliss, Muscle Museum or whatever could have been any worse for casual fans. And what is the deal with all this talk from Matt about "choreography" of performers and dancers on the upcoming tour? Are they going full-on Spinal Tap here? All they might be missing is an animatronic shark for Matt to jump over.
  9. I'm not a big fan of ranking songs because I like different ones for different reasons but just to join in the fun... The Handler Unnatural Selection Supremacy Animals Dead Inside Honorable mention to Uprising (overplayed but I still enjoy it) The Dark Side (if my arm is twisted for a new one)
  10. That medley sounded like something that I would play on guitar. Only because I muddle around just long enough to learn some riffs and can't be arsed to master entire songs. Sadly, it feels like the band is acknowledging that their fans still want to hear the older heavy songs but they just don't really care to showcase them. It will only seem worse in the US when they play obligatory full versions of Madness, UD, Resistance, Mercy etc. and then storm through a mish-mash of their best songs.
  11. I think part of the problem is that Matt's lyrics are typically not very deeply nuanced and thought-provoking. Let's face it. He's not exactly at the Bob Dylan/Bruce Springsteen level and neither is anyone else, to be fair. When he decides to casually toss out a reference to the Holocaust on an album about digital age conspiracy theories, it's a bit jarring.
  12. Considering that the song is about the dangers of falling for a deceptive, charismatic leader and groupthink mentality, the "final solution" line seems to be a direct reference to the common meaning. That said, I'd be inclined to defend the lyric because the song is a cautionary message to prevent that horror from recurring.
  13. That's just about where I am with this album. I played it pretty regularly for a week or so but it didn't have much staying power. Mostly pretty forgettable. Even Drones got a lot more playing time although I admittedly paid a lot less attention to the second half. Overall, I would just have to say that ST is OK. As in, I'm OK with listening to it but I'm pretty OK with not listening to it as well. I can't say that any of the songs on ST would crack a personal Muse Top 25 list.
  14. Agreed. That's basically what I was saying yesterday about my Drones concert experience that included about 10 minutes of prerecorded playback but not a single song from the first two albums. Really pretty lame.
  15. If Muse doesn't want to live in the past with their set lists, fair enough, but then they need to be judged on the present not reputation. Or as it stands now their last tour. The Drones show that I saw had the usual Drill Sargeant, JFK, Isolated System and Dronezzz twice (not to mention 10 minutes of TG) but they couldn't be bothered to play a single song off their first two albums. For me, that's inexcusable. I'm not saying that they should be playing half of OoS or anything like that but could not have taken 4 minutes to even throw in Plug In Baby for the longtime fans? If they really think that fans are blown away by a fleet of half-functional floating orbs and some big video screens, then I don't know what to say. I'm a bigger fan of Muse than AM but large portions of that Drones show were a bore. Can't say the same for the AM. Hopefully they can redeem themselves with the ST tour.
