  1. The live gig thread has just been locked. Why is that?
  2. Just got home. Exhausted but very, very happy.
  3. If you are in the UK and don't want to buy the magazine your local library might have a copy.
  4. Have they arrived yet? Has anyone met them?
  5. See you later! See you soon! Above your avatar it says: 'Not an angel yet.' You are!
  6. I'm so glad you got one! I'll see you later!
  7. It looked like Matt was throwing his guitar towards the back of the stage. As long as he doesn't hit Dom, I'll be happy!
  8. You deserve to get a ticket! If you are there at 4.15, hang around wherever the artists enter the building; even if you don't get a ticket, you are highly likely to meet the band, and that would be some consolation, wouldn't it?
  9. Someone at Glasgow met them when they arrived at around 5pm but got the impression they were late and advised arriving 3.30 - 4pm if you want to meet them. I can stop agonising now about whether I should or shouldn't try to meet them as I won't be able to get there before about 6pm.
  10. Advice from the Barrowlands thread: if you want to meet the guys, it's best to get there by 3.30 - 4.00 which is around when they should arrive for the soundcheck. They arrived in separate cars around 5pm in Glasgow but the poster got the impression they were late. However, they were happy to stop and sign things and have pics taken with fans.
  11. What's this DVD everyone is talking about? I've bought a new micro SD card for my phone which I have been assured will allow me to record up to 10 hours of videos. Fingers crossed! Oh, for anyone who doesn't know, I'm going to the Newport gig tomorrow night.
  12. Thanks! Will do! Nothing on FB BT page. I scrolled right back to last Wednesday. Nothing on Love Belfast, either. What is the matter with these people? Some unknown from Banbridge was more important.
  13. I recorded BBC NI News last night and it wasn't mentioned. I can't get UTV here but I'll look for it online. I didn't see anything yesterday on belfasttelegraph.co.uk. Was it in the print version? Which day? I'll ask my sister to send it here if she got it; if not, she can ask around. Thanks!
  14. Absolutely right! During The Troubles (Oops! Was I not allowed to use that phrase?) hardly any bands played in NI, not just because they were afraid to, but even people who really, really wanted to play couldn't get the insurance. We really, REALLY appreciated the people who did come. I saw Harry Chapin three times (any of you youngsters know his music?) I saw Don McLean, my first musical hero, at the Grovesnor Hall in 1979. He insisted on playing small venues all around NI and had to have a police guard because the IRA threatened to kidnap him. The NI audiences have always been, and still are, some of the most appreciative in the world. Music should unite us, not divide us. Fair enough.
  15. The USA is huge in comparison to the UK. I know they have millions of fans here but it's easy to do a small gig tour because everywhere is so close to everywhere else, relatively speaking. I've only seen them once before and they played the UK in spring/summer, after they had toured mainland Europe and other places. I'm hoping for that again as my health is always very poor in Autumn/Winter and it would kill me if I couldn't go although I'm over the moon that I will see them in Newport, South Wales, UK tomorrow night.
  16. Yes, I think it's up to the individual venue. My son and I saw Suede at the Albert Hall last year and I was told to put my phone away. There were lots of people taking photos and videos on their phones but I just happened to have an employee of the venue standing behind me. I've just bought a 30gig micor SD card for my phone and I have been reliably informed that I will be able to record up to 10 hours of videos on it. I don't know what the quality will be like and I'll be upstairs so someone else might get better footage if they are closer but I won't be behind other people (hopefully) so at least I will be able to record the band.
  17. 'Waffler' isn't the word I was thinking of! Notice how Wraffah refuses to tell us how old he/she is. He/she probably wasn't even born during The Troubles. And he/she is such a big Muse fan, he/she thinks the singer/guitarist is called Dom. Unbelievable!
  18. This is wonderful! By the way, you're welcome to join the rest of us older fans on the Oldies thread any time! I seem to be the only person who regularly posts there who isn't from the USA. It would be nice to have someone else from this side of the pond but, of course, all Musers are welcome, regardless of age or geographical location!
  19. Lots of people died in The Troubles. Just because this victim was English doesn't mean that his nephew was taking sides. I'm not 'that kind of fan.' A few people mentioned that they thought the comment was ill-judged. I happen to disagree. I also disagree with your assumption that, if 45% of people in Northern Ireland are Catholic, 40% of Northern Irish citizens Republican. I have never, ever thought of my self as either Nationalist or republican, just a Northern Irish born Catholic. I would have felt uncomfortable if I had been there simply because I hadn't been aware that Matt's uncle had been a victim of the violence. I think anyone would feel uncomfortable if they hadn't known; it probably changed the mood instantly from euphoric to desperately sad. How am I trivialising anything? I have spoken to someone else who was there and she said that there was no discernible change in the atmosphere so I guess your capacity to be offended by something which wasn't meant to be offensive depends on your readiness to see offence where none was intended (from me as well as from Matt.)
