  1. One of the guys who was there said the riff was sounchecked and (I think) then the whole song was soundchecked a bit later. Everything he said seemed pretty legit. Then again, I think something about Sing For Absolution being sounchecked was mentioned as well which seems a bit dubious. IIRC, I think more than one source mentioned TSP being soundchecked but I didn't see any of the others. So, in summary, not 100% confirmed Doesn't seem too unlikely though. It was requested on the UK tour a fair bit and when a fan asked Matt if they'd play it in the US, he said something along the lines of "We'll see."
  2. I reckon TSP's definitely a possibility. They soundchecked it a couple of times at the Mayan and they're aware some fans have requested it. I'd be more than happy with TSP, CE and Assassin as the rarities. Not too fussed about CE but TSP would be great fun and Assassin would make my life. Hyper Music and Dead Star would probably fit the festival as well but I dunno how rarity-mad they're thinking of going with set so I'm trying to keep my expectations low.
  3. I've heard 'babe' for a while tbh so it doesn't really come as a surprise to me. Doesn't really matter to me either, as long as the song sounds good.
  4. Same. It fits the sound of that part of the song, even if it's a bit cliche/cheesy. Shit, Knights has horses and lasers on it.
  5. Ah right, I've found the bit you're on about. He says 'even the wigging-out of The Globalist was recorded in one take'. I think he means that just the mental bits of TG were recorded in one take (the heavy bits). He could mean the whole song but that seems a bit unlikely for a 13 minute prog song. Seems weird though, considering Mutt's supposed to be a 'slave driver' who likes to get loads of takes. Maybe it's bullshit or just a case of stretching the truth.
  6. I'm pretty behind on what's happened today but do you mean the quote in the NME saying this is 'the wiggiest song they've done'? In that case, I'm pretty sure he means that it's one of their most crazy/mental songs, not that it was recorded in one take. You could be talking about something entirely different though. Like I said, I'm still pretty behind.
  7. I'd assume they get to listen to the whole album and make notes of anything they find interesting (lyrics, comparisons etc). So, yeah, that'll just be what they hear, I think that particular lyric is right though.
  8. Most likely this? If so, The Handler is sounding promising. Just woke up so I'm trying to catch up on whatever's happened. How come everyone thinks Drones is gonna be shit all of a sudden?
  9. I highly doubt we'll see any b-sides for this album, let alone original ones. Even if they did write/record more songs than they needed, that doesn't mean the leftovers will be released unfortunately. IIRC, didn't they go into the T2L sessions with loads of songs but only released the 12 we got?
  10. I guess my problem with it is that he could've done a bit more with the topic and explored some more interesting ideas instead of just going for the standard 'love + fuck the man'. Then again, hearing him talk about drones and loss of empathy and whatnot interested me and made me wanna go out and learn more about it so I suppose it maybe succeeded in that sense.
  11. Is that two accounts we have of The Handler having tapping in it now? Coolio if so. I'm allowing myself to get hype for The Globalist now.
  12. Did you really need to put Intro in the poll? Also, I'm the only person who's voted RBS. y this be
  13. I've had family members who were alcoholic so I've always just related it to that, makes the lyrics seem pretty dark/sad actually. Musically, I enjoy it 'cause it's fun. The only thing that annoys me are some of Matt's vocals, particularly in the chorus.
  14. At a festival, a lot of people usually leave the crowd between acts so you shouldn't have to queue there all day or arrive super early to get to the barrier. I've arrived at the main stage halfway through the lineup at festivals multiple times before and still managed to get to the barrier pretty easily (without pushing or being rude). Can't really give particularly good advice for staying hydrated 'cause I'm really bad health-wise at festivals If you're at the barrier or at least close enough, security usually hand out water to people who need it fairly regularly. Other than that, you could take a bottle or two or maybe even one of those water sack things (not sure what they're called). I wouldn't advise taking a bag, unless it's maybe a light drawstring bag, 'cause it's uncomfortable for you and can be annoying for people around you. That's all from my experience though. I've only been to Leeds festival a few times and I'm sure specific things can vary between countries/festivals but those are the fundamentals I guess.
  15. Showbiz HTAILY Cave Falling Down Muscle Museum/Sunburn Uno Sober/Unintended Fillip Escape Overdue It is known.
  16. Could be, we haven't heard it yet. Personally, something like Falling Down with strings would be nice imo. I only make that comparison because that one review mentioned Hendrix-esque guitar work and FD is pretty bluesy though.
  17. They do? I'm genuinely bored of it live, probably moreso than just about any other song. I made my way towards the exit when I heard the harmonica start playing at Manchester. I even enjoy Starlight more.
